Hot take alert:

Pogba is good at soccering

(…) that top tier in three years likely looks something like Belgium/France/Brazil/England/Italy... and I don't think it's outrageous to see the US in the next group, pushing to take the spots of the English or the Italians if they falter.

You might be right. As you said, it’s hard to predict how teams will look like in 3 years time. Having said that, I believe it will be a huge surprise to see the US pushing into the top 5.

Just from the top of my head: they will need to surpass a few more national teams like Argentina, Germany, Spain, Uruguay and a few others I think have more experience / football heritage at the highest level.

My comment is not a knock on the US team nor on your bald prediction. I believe the US team‘s development over the last decade has been extremely impressive. It’s more a testament of how difficult it is to break into that top group.

If you’re the Swiss I think the last thing you want is to go to PKs to face Mbappe, Griezman, Giroud and Pogba in a shootout….

Need to somehow find a goal in the next 15 min
