We have bird rights for them. Its about cap issues not actual costs. If we had cap room above the MLE, who do we get to come to Cleveland and how much do we over pay? Is it worth it?

Love is lost money, no buy out and extend will fix that. He is not worth the contract, but is owed it. Love doesnt hurt re-signing any of our own players. He only hurts free agency OVER MLE which is about 10 mill, we wont get anyone worth it anyways, we are still rebuilding. Vets either go to cities like LA or NY or to Contenders, we are none of those right now.

Let his contract run out, Love isnt getting traded.
I agree that cap flexibility does little for this team. I mentioned that in another post. I'm glad Love only has two years left on his deal. He'll have some value as an expiring next year.

I like Love (as my username indicates), but he doesn't seem to be the type who would be into coaching. I'd guess he dives even fuller into mental health advocacy once he's retired.

Nope.

He's retiring tomorrow to become our announcer. Don't say he won't because Austin Carr did it.

Either that or he's gonna be our new owner. Jordan did it, so it's pretty much the exact same situation.

I swear, the amount of hate you have for Kevin Love disgusts me!

Watched every game, the difference is those other guys are legendary players in Cleveland while Cribbs was an elite specialist.

The point still stands. Fans still love him

Well he wears the correct number

Assuming the Cavs can’t trade Love, they’re planning to re-sign Jarrett Allen, & that they’re likely to pick Evan Mobley at #3, a buyout makes all the sense in the world. They need to free up playing time for Mobley and let Love move on to a veteran team, where he can chase another ring.

He doesnt have to play, he might be worth saving a team money at the deadline in 2 years. He can sit, but he isnt worth anything to another team.

I had set low expectations for this stint, but Love still managed to disappoint even those. My attitude towards him is actually transitioning from frustration and annoyance to apathy and pity.

At this point, we do need to man up and just send him home until his deal expires. I am sure that at this point, the constant rehab is taking a toll on his mental health. Then after his deal is up, he can decide if he wants to keep playing elsewhere.

Out of sight, out of mind.
Yeah I was talking to some other Cav followers yesterday. At first I really thought he was just being a diva when he first started pulling this crap on the Cavs a few years ago. Now it really seems to be a combination of his body breaking down along with his mental health issues. It must be difficult to do the constant rehab while your body is physically breaking down..he's doing it under a public microscope too. That can't be good for a guy who has also been so public about his mental health problems. For the sake of both Love and the Cavs they need to come to some sort of conclusion soon. Either Love gives back some money or he simply retires. I just can't envision this cloud hanging over both the organization and Kevin for 2 more seasons. Fans are really getting frustrated at the entire situation too. Yes it was the organization that offered him that contract but the fans are of course taking out their frustration on Kevin which you can see when you read the twitter comments.

If you think "Kevin Love is not retiring this year to coach the Cavs" is the same as "I irrationally hate Kevin Love" then I guess we're done here.
If you read my comments all I was saying is that Love not being an assistant coach anywhere can’t be dismissed because he’s never “led an offense or shown leadership skills”. I wasn’t just talking about the Cavs.

Him quitting on Olympic team was a no low for me and some pussy-ass shit. I'm not buying that BS statement his agent put out there. How long does guy need to rehab??? Also whatever his doing isn't working because he constantly and I mean constantly injured. I was hoping having him practicing and working out with top-level peers would whip him back into shape, boy was I wrong. He looked completely cooked in the couple of minutes played and was an embarrassment for the country. At this point I think we should tell him to fuck off and go home. Really wished the owners pushed for another 1 time amnesty because his contract is legit that fucken bad, but remembered we're in this mess because of Dan.

Then you responded to the wrong conversation.

Absolutely nobody is saying it's impossible for Love to ever be an assistant anywhere after he's done playing.

Thanks for the clarification.
