Perhaps league wide, the consensus is that there are so many prospects with a high ceiling that don't have a major part of their game they need to tweak. So that while Kuminga may still have a high ceiling, he's also seen with a low floor and in a draft with so many other good high end options, there's not the same need to take a risk on a player like Kuminga in the top8.

For example, I think Kuminga could have gone in the 4-6 range in last years draft. May be falling into the 8-13 range in this draft because of its overall talent and high floor level prospects. Only takes one team though and I could still see him going 6 or 8 easily

Simplistic post but yes, some of these " made up ranking systems using "adv stats" can be a waste of space. I recall someone online saying Melo should have been the first pick over Lebron based on adv offensive projections. I have seen some Absurd rankings that seem to try to be different just for the sake of being different.

Maybe the Cavs really do like him ///at 8 :cool:
3 for 5 & 8 if Suggs & Green are both still available at 3 means a pretty good chance Barnes falls to 5 and if not one of them does is a win win. and even if Kuminga goes six or Se7en the Cavs still have eight for a plethora of higher floor win sooner less project options and Bouknight or Moody or Kai Jones will be one of them
 
Quality game for Garuba vs. USA. He finished with 4 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 0 turnovers, and a team-high +11. Looked very much like a young Draymond, fighting for loose balls and making winning plays. Definitely earned himself more playing time going forward.

Anyone else see a little Donovan Mitchell in James Bouknight? I smell steal of the draft. I'd be fine trading down with Orlando to get him.

One thing I read on Bouknight, and it almost seems so absurd to be true, but because the rest of his UConn team was pretty offensively inept, he only took 7 uncontested shots all season. Seems almost impossible. It might have been on a Knicks fan centered YouTube channel that autoplayed after I was watching some Mobley videos.

That's nuts. He averaged 18.7 points on 44.7% shooting, which is pretty solid. The fact that he didn't have good teammates to take some of the attention off him makes it even more impressive.

I was gonna rewatch his 40-point game anyway, so decided to fact check this. He has uncontested shots at 0:50, 2:20, 4:00, 4:38 (debatable), 4:50, and 7:57, so that's 5 or 6 in one game...I'm gonna call BS on 7 uncontested shots all season :chuckle:

Obviously a very talented scorer regardless, though not such a transcendent scorer that he's worth drafting for his scoring alone, IMO.

That's what I get for letting my YouTube autoplay to a random Knicks Vlog. They may have been pumping him up to their viewship in hopes they package 19 and 21 to move up high enough to take him in the 10-13 range

I get the reasoning, because his one NBA-level skill (supposedly) is his scoring, but he's somehow managed just one big scoring game in his career so far. And older prospects like him don't typically get drafted based on flashes...they're expected to show consistent production. So the only way it all adds up is if his team situation was sooooo bad that he just couldn't possibly be a consistent scorer. There's probably a little bit of truth to that, but I think it's mostly hyperbole, and would much rather draft a guy who actually produced than a guy who coulda woulda shoulda produced if he'd been on a different team.

I feel like he could be a good role player on a really good team in 2 to 3 years.

Yup. Not that he's exactly like TT, but just makes you think...by regular-season counting stats TT was a bust for a #4 pick, but on the other hand he was exactly what the Cavs needed in the 2016 finals. Garuba's kinda similar in that way; unspectacular regular-season stats, but has a way of rising to the occasion in big moments. So where does a guy like that get drafted?
