2021 Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm sure the Cavs put out alot of counterintel to see how it comes back to them. They know other front offices get info from message boards like this and a bunch of other sources. If they can figure out where certain teams are getting their info from then they can use that to their advantage down the line.
I mean this is the same type of dangerous rhetoric as people who claim to have their sources. How are you so "sure" about the counterintel and how do you know that the Cavs "know other front offices get info from message boards like this"?

This strategic counterintel they put out is just that Kuminga went against Okoro when he didn't? And the only 2 people who seemed to have caught onto this is a random poster on RCF and this Evan guy? That doesn't make too much sense to me lol

If I remember last year's draft rumors, the Cavs were supposedly very hot for Toppin. They were very worried he would be gone before their pick. The Okoro rumors didn't pop up until very late in the process. Maybe the last week. I also think he worked out for the Cavs very late in the process too.
You gotta learn to read between the lines.

Oh boy... if he's reading this board that would hurt. He's not big enough to get enjoyment out of mean tweets.
I can all but guarantee that he's on RCF. Maybe he reads a lot of it. Maybe he only checks in once in a blue moon to see which way the blades of grass are blowing--but he's definitely aware of us.

This board, playing out live on #CavsTwitter.

Oh and yes, Evan retweeted Zirm

I believed the Okoro thing initially because I listened to that podcast after I read that happened in here. I took it as confirmation, but it really could have been the same bad intel.

It doesn't hold up to a lot of scrutiny because why would an agent allow even a rookie NBA player guard their prospect? Nothing good could come of that. I could see a guy coming in for a workout putting up shots on the court with guys who were working out, but I don't even know if they allow that.

It's all pretty interesting because we know the Cavs put out bad intel sometimes as smokescreens. The whole Toppin thing was them thinking they might get a draft pick from NY.

Its pretty know that teams put out bad information to their benefit. Guys like Windy and Woj have gone into it on their podcasts. Some of the relationships with sources is for them to get information from them but the pay back is to put out some sort of bad information here and there to the teams benefit.

It's why these guys aren't 100% right. Teams don't just use national reporters for this. They can feed info to a whole range of people through different sources. You got to feed good information for a while to get peoples' trust.

We usually refer to it as smokescreens around draft time. I just refered to it as counterintel because I couldn't think of a better word for it at the time.

The benefit to teams is get other team to move up or in this draft maybe draft one player ahead of another since teams have multiple picks.

They might have been happy with Kuminga having a good work out put out there. The Okoro guarding Kuminga might have been put out after the bad workout stuff started to come out. A NBA GM would know if a team would work out players against current players. Podcasters and twitter reporters might not know the inner workings of NBA work outs to realize that.

Last year the rumors were they were after Avdija or Toppin. Okoro & Okongwu we’re talked about some, but not as much. Patrick Williams was a name that popped up late in the process. In hindsight, I think Williams was their top option and they turned to Okoro once he was gone. So, last year’s rumors weren’t really accurate.

If we follow the misinformation then the pick’s gotta be Suggs, right? It would help explain the Sexton trade rumors, if they envision a backcourt of Garland & Suggs. It is kinda strange the Kuminga workout has been advertised and they haven’t worked out Mobley or Green. We haven’t heard a peep about either Suggs or Barnes, which may be by design.

We can all look back at what players WERE! In Cleveland JR was a streaky non athletic shooter who if he wasn’t hitting his threes was busy making boneheaded turnovers and fouls! And again anybody that’s athletic can be explosive on a fast break but back in the day Rosen was not blowing by people off the dribble. But then again we might have different opinions about what “explosiveness” is!

Check out dunk number five and tell me this guy wasn’t athletic in a Cleveland uniform?

We truly don't know what they are trying to set up though. If a trade down is on the table or maybe they are expecting for certain guys to slip.

It could be more about a potential player or players slipping and they try to get back into the draft to get them. They could also just be covering their bases for a trade down if one does materialize.

If Hunter and Patrick Williams were the guys they did actually want, the Cavs need to change up how they put up their smoke screen. It has failed them the last two years.

I truly think the Cavs are still trying to trade up for Cade. I think that’s why they’ve been looking for another first round pick, so they can flip it to Detroit. The Pistons would likely have a hard time dropping down, knowing that Green will be gone.

Is there legit interest in Mobley? Who knows? Not bringing him in to workout is strange. Kuminga is a guy they have some interest in, but that leak appears to have been intentional. Again, nothing on Suggs or Barnes, which makes you wonder…

I know what smokescreens are, and I know teams can purposely put out bad information for various purposes. That's not my point.

My point is when you say things like "they know other front offices get info from message boards like this", you're using the rhetoric claiming you know what they do, just like some RCFers and guys like Evan who claim to have their sources. How do you know they know?

My other point is, if this is the info put out by the Cavs as a smokescreen,
  • How is it that only 2 guys in the entire basketball world (RichieRichPaul on RCF & Evan Dammarell) "heard" about Okoro going against Kuminga/workout going bad?
    • Why would they feed these unknown individuals of all people that info if the purpose of the smokescreen is to get it out there?
  • How is it that only 3 people in the entire basketball world (RichieRichPaul on RCF, Evan Dammarell, & now Jordan Zirm I guess) "heard" about Mobley working out for the Cavs?
It doesn't add up.

I'm intrigued by this Ben vs Richie situation...

Two sourced posters enter...

Only one leaves with a positive rep in tact...

Who's right???

Who’s job was it to track Okoro’s plane?
