this is why you have to convert Sexton into a starting quality SF, and to be honest one with all star potential. the cavs have been somewhat limited by their draft position. TBH, with the higher pick, I think they've done pretty well. None of the guys they've taken have been absolute busts.

The problem is no one is trading a wing to make themselves a smaller team with Sexton. We won't get close to an equally productive player back because wings are so overvalued in today's NBA. It's why we needed to take shots with those future 2nd rounders. Someone like BJ Boston had the measurable of a good wing and was a top tier prospect before this year.

If we don't use quality picks on wings then you got to push more avenues to get them. It becomes a game of quantity over quality so we can sort through to find diamonds in the rough. This team stockpiling bigs and having them take up roster spots doesn't build us the value and is an opportunity cost to finding the positions we actually need.

Our group of wings aren't great either. Okoro, Cedi, Windler, Stevens, and Thomas. Okoro is the best of the bunch but do we consider him a wing or a guard.

We are shaping up to a team of guards and bigs. When the league is so wing driven, we should have invested heavier on wings or at least taken more shots at them. Koby sitting on all these future 2nd round picks is annoying. We have minutes to try to develop guys like that.

I don't know how we balance the lineups with the lack of shooting. Lack of spacing is going to hurt the development of our young players. I bet we are going to see alot of zone defense against us again.
I had heard Jarett Culver was available, might have been worth taking a flyer on.
They probably could have worked him into the Minny deal. Koby must not have liked him.
I agree with your take 100 percent. Okoro is a 2 not a 3,,,he can play spot minutes at the 3 but I wouldn't put him out there
too much.

I think Altman will have pressure put on him to get to the playoffs. Hopefully Gilbert can slow his roll and think long term. I really think the team needs a second 1st round pick next year so they can move around a bit. I think they still need a really good wing.
There’s nothing for Gilbert to slow his roll about. All Gilbert has done has opened his wallet to acquire talent for this team. The ball is solely in the hands of Koby! If he does trade Sexton it better be for a very good package of picks and a impact player to move this rebuild forward at a faster pace. If there are no trades made then Koby needs to start cleaning house (starting with Love’s contract) and make sure that the projected 2023 cap space stays in place around 35-40 million.

Am I crazy for kinda hoping he’s done growing? He seems plenty tall and long to me already, and every extra bit of height is only going to make me worry about injuries that much more (whether that’s a well-founded worry or not).
Height can’t be taught or gained after a certain age. If he grows to 7’ 3 and keeps his mobility he’ll be a generational talent

I was never a Culver fan. His ball handling and size gave him an advantage in college but they weren't tight enough for the NBA. He hasn't been a good shooter in the NBA and I don't think he is someone being held back from lack of opportunities.

It seemed like a lot of teams last year featured a starting lineup with only one guy over 6'7". Some teams had nobody over 6'9". When we play Allen and Mobley at the same time one of them, if not both, is going to have a huge height advantage. We could see a lot of passes going to the low post in the half-court offense.
So this was my thinking about the Allen/Mobley combo. With Mobley able to switch on PnR and Allen being adequate we should be able to survive defensively with both on the floor. On the offensive end however; with the size advantage, we could cause some major match up issues that will cause sagging defenses and as a result, open shooters.

It was more about Mobley's agent only wanting to workout and talk to Detroit because he believed Mobley should be the first pick. Not normal, not Koby's fault, not anything the Cavs could do about it.
I hope you're right. Not working out for a team, I can kind of understand. But to not be willing to even talk sounds odd.

Sounds odd to me too, but they only even talked to Detroit. Hard core tactic, but they were trying for first overall.

Remember, Mobley's dad is a college coach, in a unique place to give Evan unique advice. Dont over think the not talking to him thing.

I will say the one thing I loved about Mobley last night was that the dude just seemed like a humbled professional coming into the NBA…

The color of the suit was loud but the kid wasn’t… Unlike that Disco ball James Brown Jalen Green dude…

Who knows what will or will not happen but we may have dodge a bullet or someone looking to immediately sign with the Knicks with getting Mobley over Green…

There was some Duncan-esque personality there and that seemed a lot more refreshing than a lot of the other colorful personalities there…

Yeah, Jalen Green is something looool.

He would have hated Cleveland.

Can't wait to see this kid...

This dude is about to be a beast! In this interview, Koby said he was a guard growing up that hit a growth spurt. IMO, He can become a durant like player for us depending on the shooting.
