This dude is about to be a beast! In this interview, Koby said he was a guard growing up that hit a growth spurt. IMO, He can become a durant like player for us depending on the shooting.
Durant is an HOFer based largely on his incredible shooting and he was a good shooter in college. I'd LOVE to see Mobley be that too, but its a big ask, haha.

Press conference starting finally

Twin tower lineup is going to look really tempting but I’d advise against it. Teams ate running guys like Tatum and KD at the 4. No possible way we could guard those types of lineups with Allen and Mobley at the 4 and 5.
One thing these 2 do is scare anyone from running big lineups against us. Monkey obviously has to be good to do this but i think he’ll be good
I think Mobley would be a great defender against Durant for stretches. Durant isn't so much quicker than Mobley that he's just going to torch him off the dribble, and Mobley's length takes away one of Durant's best advantages against most players that can stay with his dribble who are shorter than him where he can raise up and drain the jumper without much effect from the shorter defender.

The problem is no one is trading a wing to make themselves a smaller team with Sexton. We won't get close to an equally productive player back because wings are so overvalued in today's NBA. It's why we needed to take shots with those future 2nd rounders. Someone like BJ Boston had the measurable of a good wing and was a top tier prospect before this year.

If we don't use quality picks on wings then you got to push more avenues to get them. It becomes a game of quantity over quality so we can sort through to find diamonds in the rough. This team stockpiling bigs and having them take up roster spots doesn't build us the value and is an opportunity cost to finding the positions we actually need.
Stockpiling bigs? As of right now, how many bigs do we have under contract?

  • Nance (PF/SF)
  • Love (PF, hopefully a buyout soon)
  • Allen(C, RFA and most certain to be here long term)
  • Mobley(PF/C)
  • Kabengele (PF, but an easy cut if there's a roster crunch)
  • Wade (PF, but an easy cut if there's a roster crunch) (PF)
The interesting questions will be:

-Is Love bought out by the beginning of the season. If not, is he playing or is he JR'd)

-How much SF does Nance play

-With Mobley likely both starting at PF next to Allen but also potentially playing Center when Allen rests, do the Cavs prioritize re-signing Hartenstein or bringing in a vet big(maybe a stockier, bruiser type) or do they just have the 3rd rostered center be a 15th man type?

This may have been shared already, but I found a really great playlist with all counting stats (make/miss/reb/ast/TO) highlights for 12 of Mobley's games

Yeah, that was one of Mobley's worst games of the season.

The link is to a playlist with videos from 12 games. Really great stuff because they show everything including longer sequences, so you get a much better feel for how he actually functions in a game vs clips of 3 second highlights.

We must remember that Mobley was a gift from none other than KLove. If he doesn't ball out against Boston, we do not end tied with the Pelicans and lose the coin-flip which results in having a different lot of combinations in the lottery. I assume we will end up with the #1 overall next year because we are trending in that direction..(8) Sexton, (5) Garland, (5) Okoro, (3) Mobley......(1) 2022!!!

That is from 2 years ago I believe at the U17 tourney. He is outclassing the other kids size and athletic, almost no NBA players he is playing against, but notice from the very first play his handles, and some you can see the court vision.

That is what I have been saying. He has the handles and passing of a wing. He is 7'1 or so. He should have been the first player taken.
