If one looks closely, the Tag Team belts Money Inc. had in 1992-1993, were a variant. A couple noticeable changes.

There is a weird story behind it.

One notices that one of the belts does not have the same side plates as the other.

Legion of Doom prior to 1992.

Legion of Doom loses the belts to Money Inc. February 1992, Money Inc. holds the belts for 13/16 months they are a team:

The drop the belts briefly to the Natural Disasters in Fall 1992. Still same Money Inc. variant.

Money Inc. wins them back in October 1992, and holds them until June where the titles change hands with the Steiners three times. Immediately after Steiner won the belts back the second time from Money Inc. June 1993.

Ah the Natural Disasters.

Back when pure bulk ruled the day.

They didn’t rule shit. Pure bulk ruled the day during Andre the Giant’s heyday. I didn’t watch Wrestlemania III but I remember Joe Tait announcing that Hulk Hogan body slammed Andre during a Cavs game.
I had an opportunity there and I took it. Was I right? Maybe not. Was it worth it? Hell yes.

Tenta (Earthquake) was only like 29 in this photo lol. He looked like my dad in his 40s.

Ottman was better as a babyface Tugboat than he was when he turned heel to Typhoon.

But he was obviously best as The Shockmaster!

Here's a fun one...the night when Cena had to face Rob Van Dam in ECW territory:

Van Dam's frog splash is a thing of beauty.

Was just talking to my brother about this match the other night - I don't think I've ever seen a hotter crowd than this.

Too bad HHH didn't like RVD - he should've been THE guy in the post-attitude era.

My favorite part is before the match when Cana keeps trying to toss his shirt to the crowd and it gets tossed back every time and the crowd goes wild each time.

Also, wasn’t the issue for RVD that he kept failing drug tests?

The end started when he got caught with 8 grams of weed driving to a gig with Sabu. Sabu also has 8 Vicodins unprescribed to him, which was pretty common back then for wrestlers, but they both got a drug fine - neither were found under the influence though.

He claims all the McMahon’s knew about his weed use and just told him to be discreet about it but once he got in trouble, they stripped off both his titles and he fizzled out. Rumor was HHH was gunning for him to move down the card because he didn’t like working with him. Considering he’s the top heel at the time, basically cuffed his push. Not the first time a wrestler has said something similar about HHH.

I listened to a lot of old wrestling podcasts during the Rona. Filled my brain with tons of useless anecdotes I’ll never sound cool telling out loud.

Yup..

Warlord
Haku
Blue Blazer/Owen Hart
Razor Ramon
Big Bossman
Duke The Dumpster Drose
Repo man
Crush (before he joined demolition)
Repo Man. Great gimmick.

Such a 180 for Darsow from Smash.

Sneaking around. He stole Macho Man's hat!

He was never the best heel because he was so damn entertaining and funny.

Had a slightly unnerving and weird entry music.

Always felt he should have teamed up with IRS after DiBiase retired and ran Money Inc. II. But Darsow left the WWF about that time.

Would have been good. Not as good as they "Death and Taxes" tag team that was being considered teaming Undertake and IRS together in 1991 as they came onto the WWF scene around the same time and both had been working with DiBiase. But Undertaker became so popular so quickly that they didn't want to take him out of singles competition. So they teamed up DiBiase and IRS together instead in late 1991.

I'f you've never seen it the Undertaker's debut is amazing.

As good as he was, the real gem of this Survivor Series match is Ted Dibiase vs Bret Hart.

We don't see technical wrestling like this anymore. What masters. An amazing match.

At Wrestlemania VIII, they did manage to chase Money Inc. out of the ring. They won by count out, which means they didn't win the titles.

I think they ended up winning the belts from Money Inc. at a house show and lost the belts to them a month later.

Those were not great matches. Lots of rest holds and fat guy flopping. They looked like they were on the verge of a heart attack.

Speaking of old school, Mike Rotunda (IRS, US Express, Varsity Club, VK Wallstreet, father of Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt), is finally being inducted into the Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame. Along with Jim Ross.

Rotunda never gets the credit he is due. WCW kind of fucked him over with so many gimmick changes (though one was on him as Captain Mike, because he got a free boat out of it) but when he finally got to the WWF he shined as IRS.

He was a NCAA Division I conference champ at Syracuse and also played DE for their football team. So he could actually wrestle, wrestle.

And he once had yo take a guy down for live fire during a match. A jobber named "Death Row" landed a couple real punches and Rotunda took him down. Evidently Rotunda is one of the nicest guys ever in the WWF. And one of two guys that Jim Ross said could kick the shit out of anyone in the business without breaking a sweat.

That match was awesome, you can clearly see where the act ends and Rotunda decides he's going to beat him for real.

I thought he did it with a lot of class... even though Death Row was begging him to let him go.

LOL. Good post.
