Trout is paid huge, a great competitor, and seems happy. Fishy, like medically? Like they’re not reporting something?

I still go back all the way to when Sexton took down the Nets that night. Love was celebrating with a teammate on his back. Walking around with a teammate on his back.

Who with a calf injury does that? It must be eight months ago by now and he’d already been out for a few months at that point. That’s strange.
Trout’s injury is a fluke. He tried to run with it but was just floundering out there. There’s no point in having him play if he’ll be crappie, no matter how much fans carp about it.

I think everyone should chill with the ultimatums. If he is usable in practice and in games then use him. If he is not then don't. If he keeps up "conduct detrimental to the team" then you bench him or send him home to think about what he's done and use it as an example.

He is still a floor spacer if healthy which is incredibly valuable to the development of everyone else.

Kevin has 4 options:
  1. Accept a bench role when health permits
  2. Be sent home for insubordination
  3. Buy his way out of town
  4. Injury retirement (my favorite-- everybody wins!)
A trade would have too heavy a cost in player capital and we have no incentive to buy him out at full salary.
Benching him healthy out of spite achieves nothing.

He may be rather useless as a player but I’m sure he can still be useful in teaching Lauri and Mobley how to rebound, throw outlet passes etc. don’t want him sucking up too much playing time but don’t think he’s entirely a negative asset that we have to keep him away from the team

If he doesn't want the buy out (which is fair, both sides signed the contract, both should be willing to let it go till the end), then he does everything everyone else does. Team practice, be at the games and everything else, even if he doesn't want to.
There has to be some kind of protection from the league to the team if a player just flat out refuses to do his obligations.

He absolutely has a skillset that would be amazing to share with the young guys. It's the other stuff that scares me, and others. Does he teach them it's OK to roll the ball inbounds when you're pissed at a ref? Does the show them its OK to undermine a coach you don't like? Love has been anything but a model player/teammate the last few years. It could all be fine now, but it's something to keep an eye on.

If he pulls shit JB and Kobe gotta put him in his place quick and teach the young guys what a consequence is when you dont act professional regardless of how much you get paid.

I’m not sending him home to enjoy being comfortable collecting a major pay check. Hell no Kobe and JB have one on one talks with the younger kids, give them the “stay focused and ignore negative attitudes”, and you make Love do everything every other player collecting a paycheck does! But if he doesn’t want to discuss a buyout then he sits at the end of the bench!

I doubt he will mutiny. He's still gonna prepare for the season and train with the team. It more than likely will be the same Kevin Love, different season.

He'll try to play himself into shape, get injured, rehab throughout the season, come back, and then get injured again. Rinse and repeat.

I don't know that's he's all that valuable in terms of development to other players, but it's not difficult to imagine a scenario where Love, Mobley, and Rubio provide the foundation for a solid bench unit.

I just don't want to read anymore reports about Kevin Love wanting to be traded. We're not attaching the needed value to move his contract. If he wants out that badly, he can give some money back and play where he wants. If he doesn't want out that badly, then he and Schwartz need to accept the situation for what it is.

Exactly! We aren’t giving up anything of quality (especially first rounders) to move him and should only be taking back expiring contracts to protect our cap flexibility. Bottom line if he comes to camp with an attitude or develops one….park his ass at the end of the bench. Let him be miserable watching others get minutes. And if his agent asks for a buyout it’s on our terms…..we dictate how much we pay out.
