Anthony Schwartz - Former Brown

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah that's my perspective on it as well. Coach shouldn't get involved and it wasn't a pull a guy off involvement. It was a shove. So yes he deserved to get shoved back. You can't put your hands on a player than clutch your pearls when he responds in kind.

I also don't think there was malicious intent on the stepping on the other player. Looked accidental to me.

I recognize there may be bias here but that's my perspective of it.

@The Oi

It was pretty clear that Harrison was stepping over/around the player on the ground (I think it was CEH) and a Chiefs player bumped him, which caused him to step on the player. It's not like he stomped on him. It didn't even look like he put any weight on that foot, but a little contact was unavoidable given the circumstances.

To make matters worse the commentators acted like it was the worse thing they've ever seen on a football field. There was zero nuance to the situation just watching him stepping on another player in slo motion like he was intentionally cleating him

It pissed me off the way they called that. At one point Romo asked, "I wonder what set him off?" and they never answered. They kept showing the replay, and showed the KC coaches face *several* times, but mentioned the first shove in passing, "I guess the coach pushed him first, but you can never shove a coach like that!" I could probably describe that coach to a sketch artist perfectly as many times as they showed him, but they didn't talk about that...

...let alone that between the coaches shove, and the push by the offensive lineman, that Harrison had nowhere to go to avoid contact with CEH.

I see your point, gentlemen.

Normally I’d agree with the ejection but the coach shoved first.

Movie: First Shove. “He drew first shove coach”.

No ejections, offsetting penalties, fines for both.

Just think how pissed we’d all be if this was a STEELERS coach.

Its an improvement from our players. At least Harrison didnt rip his headset off then beat the coach in the head with his very own headset.

Progress in any form.

Come to think of it I expect a Jaguar will be more likely to beat a coach with his own headset.

I really hope this guy pans out. Speed just kills. His hands and lack of college production really scares me but just maybe we got a steal in 3rd round. Njoku had hands of bricks coming in and he has improved so much. U cant teach speed but u can improve the hands.

re the Harrison ejection… That was totally on Harrison right? You can’t get away with hitting a coach. The coach was pushing him off his guy which happens pretty often. He was probably a little aggro about it but Harrison shoved him hard. The minute I saw that I knew he’d get penalized.
Coach should have been tossed too. You can't put your hands on a player like that.

Time to sign him to an extension

We have him locked in pretty cheap for the next three seasons after this one:

Seriously though, I can't have been the only one thinking that maybe they were keeping him held out of the preseason as a secret weapon of sorts for the first week.

Good luck covering him, OBJ, and DPJ at the next level of the defense...

Bingo.

If DPJ picks the ball up and fumbles it to the Chiefs, the ball still goes back to the Browns at the 1.

It's one of the true no-risk plays in football outside of the possibility of injury which exists on every play.
Fumbles it all? Like if he picks it up, clearly possess it, runs for 10 yards, then fumbles and KC picks it up, it’s still our ball? Or is it just if he muffs it?

its still the browns ball at the 1.

Someone laid out the rule very well. But this is illegal touching. If the punting team touches the ball first after the punt the absolutely worst thing that can ever happen is the ball goes back to that point. It is basically a 100% complete and total free play by the receiving team. (just like offsides)

edit: this rule has been on the books forever, but you almost never see it actually play out. Clearly the cheifs players had no idea what the fuck was going on as the idiots started celebrating like they had scored a touchdown. Despite the fact that 2 different cheifs players had touched the ball before DPJ. Quite frankly it was a very heads up play by him, and if he had been able to get any sort of return there would have been a 3 page thread about how great he is.
