Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Through one game, Josh Allen is now at a 58% completion percentage. So right in line with Josh Allen year 2, rather than almost 70% Josh Allen from last year. So if Josh Allen continues to have more games at that 58% completion percentage, does the narrative become that he's an accurate QB that had a down year, or would it be more in line with his super accuracy being an outlier?

You can't declaratively say that Josh Allen has become an accurate QB after one good year, regardless of how much he changed mechanics. The narrative changes as time passes and more evidence is presented.

You never anoint players after one good year.
I have no idea--I didn't watch the game yesterday. Was Allen inaccurate?

Completion percentage doesn't answer that question.

Oh, and it didn't take a full year to say that Allen improved his accuracy. He did. It was true early on last year.

I don't really care about your narrative. If you want to be behind the ball and not acknowledge reality until it's tea-bagged you for multiple years, so be it.

Well, then you keep harping on how awesome you are while Baker fails to win a game from behind in the 4th.

Baker is a franchise QB. Sorry it took me a while to really get there. Where he is ranked I won't argue with someone saying anywhere from 6 to 15. I think its obvious Brady, Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers and Watson are a level above the rest. Then I think u have 3 different groups behind them--1. Allen, Jackson, Prescott, and Murray and 2. Baker, Herbert, Burrows, and Stafford and 3. Tannehill, Cousins, Ben, and Carr. Group 3 can definitely have games better than other 2 groups but over season not as good because of age, physical skills, leadership or accuracy. Group 2 has a more mobility than group 3. I would say group 3 has better arms than group 2. I can see any argument on how u rank group 1 and 2. I currently have them:

6. Prescott
7. Stafford
8. Jackson
9. Baker
10. Murray
11. Herbert
12. Allen
13. Burrows

The biggest thing that scares me about Baker is his height and athletic ability. In my top 13 I would rank him in bottom 3 in athletic ability and probably only Murray is shorter. Every QB needs a decent offensive line to be successful but I think because of his lack of height and mobility it is more important to Baker. With his contract coming up it scares me to pay him 40 million and have to skimp from somewhere else. I pray its not the Oline or TEs.

Not even trying to be funny, but would it hurt baker to get ripped physically? I think he can stand to lose 10 lbs and get ripped for next year.

He looks thinner than the previous two seasons. But I would love to see a Jacked Big Dick Bake

I think he's in the best shape he's been in his life. He's in a good area - his legs/quads are thick and cut. Legs (and stamina) are probably most important for him given the style of offense he runs.

His upper body is fine. Getting ripped wouldn't really change much.

Maybe.

Brady Quinn couldn't throw once he got jacked.

It's not like Tom Brady, Peyton, Roethlisberger, Eli, etc were "ripped."

It's just a non-factor.

I agree he looks to be in his best shake since his rookie year, but his stamina still looks as though it can be improved a notch or two

JFC the last pages of this thread....can we wait for a larger sample size till the pitchforks are lit and the "is he clutch?" discussions come out? The dude completed 75% of his passes on Sunday and looked exceptional for most of the game in one of the most hostile environments in the league. His pick was as flukey as it gets.

But what if he was ripped?

This is exactly how I feel. The Baker haters need to watch 2 hours of DeShone Kiser for just punishment.

Mayfield will get paid this off season and within 3 years will own every single record for a Browns quarterback.

Sunday showed me that the Browns right now are a better football team than the Chiefs. 3 turnovers to none...and yet the Browns lost by only 4 points....and on the road to boot.

And Mayfield was down right nasty. The only thing that can stop this team this year is Joe Woods and his candy ass soft zone coverage schemes.

I'm very curious how the defense will play Sunday. Woods said he wants to be an aggressive attacking defense but on Sunday they we're the exact opposite. Hopefully that was just because of the match up but if its the same soft zone crap i'm done with him.
