Anyone know lawns/weeds/seeding?

I have a strip between two fences that got overgrown over the past year. LOTS of pokeweed, grass bushy weed things, few woody shrubs. Pulled what I could a couple weeks ago, it's coming back...pokeweed is hard to pull up...

I left the fence up so I could plant grass before the dogs got access to it. So I want to seed it tomorrow, take fence out next spring.

I was going to just renter a tiller, assuming it would go through small roots. Now I'm reading up and it's "eh"...and I apparently risk bringing dormant weed seeds up to the surface and making the weeds worse.

I just want to bitch that I've gotta replace the guts in a toilet that was replaced less than 2 years ago. Nothing I love more than double water bills and a toilet that never stops filling. Stupid junk ass Korky fill valve.

I literally have a plumber out here right now looking at mine.

Yay, home warranty!

The best part is it was replaced by some universal serviceable valve. And not a single fucking store within 30 miles stocks the god damn $4 replacement cap I need.

if you are having toilet problems, I seriously recommend going to costco (getting a membership if required) and buying their 1 piece toilet for $100-130. they are an absolute breeze to install, come with all parts, look great, work great. Mine are now on year 5 and I have never had an issue with them. Oh they are also dual flush and have a quick disconnect toilet seat so you can easily clean.

Let's be real here. Installing a toilet is a wax ring, 2 bolts, and hooking up the supply line ;)

most toilets come as two pieces which you have to put together (the upper portion and lower bowl). Then you have to make sure all of the connection points are in the correct spot and everything is seated correctly. I am not saying its the most difficult thing in the world but it does introduce more points of failure during installation and over the lifetime of the toilet.

This is the reason I recommend the single piece toilet.

I only say costco because the price is right, as most single piece toilets i know of are drastically more expensive

I have antique toilets and they look really cool. From the 20's I think.

My trouble is the previous owner let the poison ivy get out of control and I can't trim anything so it looks like Miss Havisham's yard. I am super allergic and had about 3 bad bouts with it. The worst was waking me up at 4am scratching

Very very few landscapers will take it out. It ended up only costing 250 bones, but no one would touch it. Now I got most of it out, but the areas I trimmed now I have uncovered other clusters. This is going to be a multiyear project.

So if we are bitching, i have a tile roof. Gutters in a few places, but nothing like midwest, dont hang off the side. We had a few really bad rains recently here in Phoenix. I noticed water coming from a closet a rarely use. My floor was soaked, dry wall wet, mold, it was bad.

I call out a handyman. Goes on the roof,. 2 tiny small balls on my gutter on the roof, against the house, where i cant see the gutter. It was blocked by the 2 tiny balls (insert penis joke)....this caused the water to divert, get into the house under a piece of wood at the top of my house. Now i have to replace, repaint the wood, caulk up where it was coming from, rip out all the drywall in my closet and the carpet, treat the wood beams for mold and replace all the dry wall and carpet.

All because some kid got a ball stuck on my roof.

My entire house has gutter guard stuff on it, except for the back patio thing they built.

Finally cleaned it out and put gutter guard on it for the first time since we moved in three years ago.

There were plants growing in it. It was bad... but the thing I did not expect to find? A child's shoe.

I have no idea what the previous owners were doing, but that's impressive.

It wont work for my house, the gutters are completely different here, hard to explain unless you have been in construction in the SW.

The footballs looked years old, like they were stuck somewhere else and the wind moved them,

Oh yeah, I'm not saying you should get gutter guard crap put on yours.

Just telling the story of how I found a gross, old, moldy shoe in my gutters.

I moved into my house last year and painfully discovered we had poison ivy growing everywhere. I had it for about 4 months straight, and it was so bad that I have scars from it.

Once you get it under control it’s easy to see and remove as it pops up. I just use latex gloves and tie it into a grocery bag then wash up really well. If you clean it off within 15-20 minutes you shouldn’t get a rash.

very important to wash with a soap with removes oils. Its the oils from the plant that cause the rash. We keep a mini bottle of dawn soap in our shower for this exact reason. If we handle PI here we use throw away gloves, put the shit in a trash bag, and then take a shower washing every where with dawn.

My wife gets it really bad, and waited a bit too long a couple of months ago to wash. Her entire arm was covered. I learned my lesson in 3rd grade when i was taken to the hospital it got so bad. I dont fuck with PI anymore.

PI is super easy to treat if you know what to look for.

If you can find waterweed/jewelweed/touch me nots/ growing near it, you just use the juice from the stem to counteract the oil. 2 days of it pretty much will dry up any sores rather quickly.
