#29: TE, David Njoku, Miami

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Njoku is really coming into his own. I think the kid can be a top 10 TE the next five years. It is the NFL and injuries happen so you never know. Kid couldn't catch a cold or block my grandma when he came in and now the kid is our best blocking TE(pff rankings) and has great hands. You cant teach his height and athletic ability.

I would love for the Browns to sign the kid long term. It is probably going to take 4 years and btw 40 to 50 million. I dont know if the Browns have room to do that.

This is what I keep coming back to here.

Baker is getting an extension. Cleveland has waited too long for a top 15 quarterback, so it's impossible to imagine him getting exposed in free agency.

Next free agents on the list:
1. Clowney
2. Teller

It's early and there's a lot of football to play, but I'm taking both of these guys over Njoku without hesitation. It would be awesome if they give the Browns a discount, but they could command 8-12 million a year depending on how this season goes.

The Browns will also talk to Denzel Ward about an extension because CB1 is a premium position.

The Browns have 25 in roll-over cap, and I'm hopeful the roll over can keep those four.

Harrison, both Maliks, and Njoku are going to fight over the leftover cap from there.

I don't think Clowney is going to be on the list of guys to retain unless he's giving the Browns a big discount. I'd imagine the goal is to find his replacement in the 1st or 2nd round and continue adding depth from there.

That's very possible. The Browns coulda gone edge in the first round in 2020 most of the off-season, but Newsome was a better value and they finally landed Clowney. Lots of football to play between now and next off-season, but it's fair to say Andrew Berry has been chasing Clowney two seasons in a row to get him in the door. He may want him around after this season as well.

9. Cleveland Browns (3-2)

Most improved player: TE David Njoku
How they've improved: Though it came in a losing effort, Njoku continued his strong start to this season and delivered a career performance Sunday against the Chargers. He finished with a team-high 161 receiving yards on seven receptions, including a career-high 71-yard touchdown catch in which he shed a defender before racing into the end zone. Njoku, a first-round pick in 2017, has had trouble finding his place in Cleveland. At one point, he even asked for a trade. But as Cleveland's leading receiver through five games, Njoku might finally be hitting his stride. -- Jake Trotter

Monster game from him last night. Had the one drop against some very good defense (hard to hang onto that one)... but he was absolutely dominant physically.

It's good to see Chief playing with that kind of confidence, and to have a gameplan that was actually looking for him throughout the game.

Just my opinion, but i think we lose that game without him.
