LOL. He barely have the ball in his hands to make anything happen. The fuck? He’s the PG. What aren’t you getting? Nothing you stated negated my point. I’m rewatching the game now. You want the link?

The point is that "usage" isn't a measure of how often you have the ball in your hands. It's a measure of how often you take the action that "ends" a play - shot, turnover, or free throw. One of the criticisms of Garland is that he passes up opportunities to shoot, which would have the effect of lowering his usage rate. Plays in which he passes off the ball to another player, even for an assist, also don't count as "usage". Higher assist players generally have lower usage for that reason. Turnovers also will increase your usage rate because they end a play.

Doesn't mean that Sexton isn't ball-hogging to some degree, but Garland also is too passive at times and passes up shots he should take. That's on him.

Classic rule: the easiest way to increase a player’s efficiency in the NBA is to decrease his usage.

Very efficient players with very high usage do exist. They tend to be called superstars.

I like Garland's skill set a lot. It's just that personality/leadership/aggressiveness-wise, he's starting to look a bit like Mo Williams. A nice player, but never seemed to perform at the level his skills should have enabled. That's okay when you're playing with a high-usage, dominant player like LBJ. But it's less good when you're looking for him to be one of the driving forces of your team.

I’m sorry, 85% of the enjoyment I get from watching sports comes from overreacting.

Don’t take that away from me.
If you don't get rid of the terrible avatar, I'll do more than take away your overreacting.

Fuck Denzel Valentine.

Did Denzel Valentine fuck your wife or your mother? Getting angry over someone having an avatar of the 14th or 15th man on the roster just seems odd.

Denzel’s a delight. He’s a rapper, he takes three pointers on 1-on-3 fast breaks, he has the ankles and knees of an arthritic 80 year old man.

As long as he never plays when there’s something on the line, I don’t mind him. The fact that he’s in the league is a healthy reminder of the randomness of life.

Usage% seems to be a poorly worded statistic as it impacts the person dribbling the ball for 20 seconds less than the individual who took the shot (make or miss) or turned it over or got fouled within the remaining 4 seconds. Garland had the 2nd highest FGA and 2nd highest USG% both behind Sexton last season (Excluding Drummond) and I doubt that changes unless FIBA Rubio shows up.

Since we're extrapolating off 2 pre-season games lets look at our pace stats. The Cavs are 7th in pace (107.5) after 2 pre-season games compared to being 26th in pace last season (100.63). I wonder if this will be a trend when the regular season starts because they should run as often as possible considering they're sub-par in generating half-court offense. We'll see how they look tonight.

He takes delight in his teammates getting posterized as well :chuckle:
