I'm sure they did. And every other playoff bound team..

Toronto has a blend of veterans and prospects that would be more than a little interesting to Cleveland.. They include:

Lourdes Gurriel Jr c-OFer
Gabriel Moreno C
Jordan Groshans 3B/c-OFer
Otto Lopez 2B/c-OFer
Gunnar Hoglund RHSP

The addition of any one of the top three for not JRam would begin a wonderful off season, imho..

I dont think the Blue Jays are willing to give up who we would want and the FO and ownership wants to extend JRam anyways...

wanting to extend and extending are not the same thing.. anyways..

as far as who we believe the Jays would 'give up'.. we'll disagree..

I expect Jose to be extended or traded by the end of the year. I don't think they want to get the reduced return of trading a guy with just one more year remaining on his deal.

JRam would actually get more money in the first 4 years of the extension if he signs one than he would get over that time if he plays out his contract and then hits free agency, plus Bimbos words say they are in legit discussions, so its a good 70-80% chance an extension gets done. Now I think the extension will end up going more than 4 years though, so the number he gets after 4 will make or break the extension.

If the extension doesn't happen then I am definitely willing to listen to the Blue Jays offer since 22 would be the year to swap him cause majority of the talent will be in the pros by 23 honestly....

Only issue I see with your trade idea is the fact I believe four of those guys will have to be on the 40 man roster, plus who we currently have, we would have a ton of talent but no one proven at the MLB level and I am not sure if I was the Blue Jays I would want to give up Guirrel honestly... I'd rather see if I could move Smith, Groshans and Lopez...

Jose isn't going anywhere.
We are not punting on next year.

Any trade for Jose would have to bring back immediate proven production that would be more than Jose gives...otherwise such a trade would be merely spinning our wheels.

For several reasons it won't happen. First it would blow up our 40 man. Secondly, such a trade would necessarily include some players who are beginning arby, which means that we wouldn't be saving any money.

Gurriel makes $10 mil over the next two years.

Hernandez is gonna make $17 mil.

False narratives to support unknown actions that may or may not happen.. words or not..

-The amount of money JRam would get is unknown.. more, less.. the same.. it's unknown..

-a 70 to 80% chance of an extension is a fantasy/sky hooked bull shit number..meaningless at worst.. hopeful at best..

-number of years is unknown.. 4 before.. after his two option years.. added to or otherwise. UNKNOWN..

-you don't have to think only serially.. to the exclusion of what you don't want.. Concurrent thinking is encouraged

-The arrival of talent coincides with the last year of JRam contract.. is that a coincidence?

-There was NO TRADE idea presented.. The names of five players/prospects to consider were presented.. Try not to confuse words that will become intentions for others.. You're welcome to do so with your own words and encouraged to share in that light..

-The name game.. Five were provided.. one has has been removed "...not moving Lourdes Gurriel Jr.." Okay.. So. Teoscar Hernendez would be the obvious replacement name.. Given Teoscar and Lourdes.. the GM of the Jays would be inclined to deal which one? Both? Neither?.. then who?..

Maybe all the names should eliminated and nothing done.. then we can have Weird Harold in the outfield again????

BTW... at the trading deadline.. the Jays traded SWR (Simeon Woods-Richardson) Austin Martin to the Twins.. both of these guys were on my radar for trade if JRam was offered. Additionally.. Jordan Groshans, Lourdes Gurriel Jr and Gabriel Moreno were also some of the names.

The throw in name was Julian Merryweather..

SWR and Martin is a pretty good haul for Berrios.. imho..

When it comes to the numbers for JRams extension, it makes 100% sense for the first four years for both parties, without a doubt in my, if JRam signs an extension, I would bet my life savings on the numbers being near what I originally said plenty of times... it's not hypothetical, I know it's on the table right now... the discussion is after that first four year period. Whether or not you believe me is irrelevant to me, but I would stake a lot of money the first four years are definitely done on paper....

Blue Jays are trading for JRam to win, why would they trade a player a 3 WAR player under team control that plays a different position... I dont think it makes sense, they will trade straight from the farm/blocked player, not a starter on their roster...

If you haven't learned what it takes for the Indians to make a deal by now... here's a clue: EVERY TRADE IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A MEANS TO WIN BALL GAMES.. EVERY TRADE. 3 WAR or 13 WAR.. Blocked or not..the Indians/Guardians have a set value they place on specific guys.. It may or may not include public information such as WAR or wRC+ or OPS+.. or any other statistic that divides a player into a rough set of numbers.. but it's a consistent approach to trades this front office follows.. Guys that come to Cleveland that are blocked still come.. because the CleFO has determined the guys coming make the club better..

This four year extension stuff is myth.. pie in the sky.. a fantasy.. hasn't happened.. and won't until it does... and doesn't give your argument any more voracity by boasting about what you're going to wager.. smh..

The Blue Jays, according to Shi Davidi approached the Indians about JRam.. The Jays did not meet the CleFO's demand.. Will they revisit? Hopefully they will.. The amount the Blue Jays offer will still be evaluated against what CleFO believes is fair value.. That could be any of names including some or all of the five names listed.. perhaps others. They're just guys who have characteristics that appear to benefit the Guardians roster and chances getting into the playoffs..

But one thing you can consider.. agree or not.. it is my opinion that the Guardians will be a better team in 2022 and better yet in the following two to four years if an extension for JRam is declined by JRam's people.. and a deal is made..

What's in your piggy bank is IRRELEVANT..

My point was Toronto isn't trading Guirrel plus prospects for JRam, that is all for that part...

Next is the fact JRam leaves money on the table in 22 and 23 if he doesn't sign an extension... he leaves like 20 million there, then he sets himself up to being only able to play for big market teams, which has been stated by a credible source, JRam personally wants nothing to do with a big market team...

Fans were super pissed when we traded Lindor and we start the Guardians era by trading JRam... PR nightmare right there... may as well just sign Bauer back to the organization since that would be an easier PR nightmare to deal with... Thats how important getting JRam extended is. It is a business and sometimes the best thing in a business to do is find a way to keep your best asset not let it go. Honestly you go way way way too far in your dislike/how much you are against resigning JRam, if you aren't against it then how come you hate on the idea so much?

Bimbo is usually right on the money when it comes to stuff and if he says they have started talking about an extension then that tells me, both parties at least on paper think an extension is a good idea, especially when JRams agent rarely has players go to free agency... JRam loses no money AAV wise by signing that extension, replacing 22 and 23 with the 21ish million a season rather than 11 and 13... then in free agency he would get 30ish million a season so 4/84 is equal to what he would get in 22-25 if he didn't get the extension and signed in free agency... so 4/84 area is on the table.... The thing that contract would end at his age 33 season. If I was his agent I'd like him signed a couple more seasons longer. That would make a 6/144... 24 million a season even if year 6 is an option year with a 5 million buyout that's still 125 guaranteed... Guardians need a splash and spending the largest contract ever offered by the organization to keep a MVP candidate, I think is a splash don't you?

I would be all in for keeping Jose Ramirez.. YOU HAVE THIS ABSOLUTELY WRONG !!.. QUIT CHANGING WORDS TO FIT A CONCURRENT PATH THAT I AM EXTOLLING.. JUST STOP IT !!

History says BS on JRam resigning here....

and your math is creative if not flawed:

JRam's representation will want his client to achieve at least an AAV of $30 MM/ year.. Five or six years: NOT 4!! All of it guaranteed.. no team options..player determined opt outs.. That includes the 2022 and 2023 seasons. If it doesn't.. NO EXTENSION! @ five years an extension looks like this: 11 + 13 + 3 seasons at $ 42 MM = Five years @ $ 30 MM AAV = $ 150 MM. The only change you'll see with this would be a possible 6th year.. making the it 4 season @ $ 39 MM plus the two option years..

There is NO MONEY BEING LEFT ON THE TABLE by Jose Ramirez. Any extension will make that moot.

You've watched player after player after player walk out of Cleveland to riches elsewhere. All the while, claiming they want end their careers on the North Coast.. Thome, CC, Lofton, Albert, Manny, Lindor.. etc etc etc.. (for every extended player..I'll show you ten that didn't) Every one of them has professed their intent to be an Indian for life.. The truth of the matter.. they'll be Indians for life as long as the Indians pay fair market rates.. perhaps a little below as a minor discount.. but not enough for it to matter.. When a player is honest enough to claim he's going to become a FA.. he is CASTIGATED as a NON TEAM MEMBER.. AS SELFISH. AS A BASTARD.. So.. why would any player make a statement to the contrary????.. because they want to be harangued and criticized by the tens of people who read the Cleveland Plain Dull?.. who listen to big mouth drennan?.. read the mindless scribblings of terry pluto?.. Jeff schudell?.. any of them have a kind word to say about a departing player?.. (don't answer this.. anyone who's within ear shot or has a computer knows this to be true)

Sadly.. you know I'm not a fan of trading star players..they're the one teams rely on to lead the team to wins that matter.. but.. to repeat the out going mayor's words.. "..we know what the problems are.. we've known what they are for years.. We know what the solutions are.. we've known those for years, too.. It is what it is..."

So quit throwing bravado and non-binding gossip about tea leaves and inside dope..because it's all tripe.. Jose Ramirez will remain in a cleveland uniform as long as he's doesn't claim he's leaving.. If the CleFO decides to push it with the leverage they're "only" going to pay him $ 24 MM over the next two years.. it will hasten his departure.. cutting our collective noses to spite our face..

So it might be worthwhile to consider realistic trades that would protect the team's future..

..as much as I wouldn't want it to happen..
