Ed Davis is what he is - full time rebounder, tough guy, and old school paint presence off the bench.

This will likely mean the end of Tacko Time.
I assume he's the backup center. We are going really old or really young. Apparently we want no one in the prime of their career. Its going to be a long year.

I’m glad these pickups didn’t include another small guard

Looking at his career shooting percentages (34% from 3, 45% overall, 54% ft) every bucket he's made may be in this video. Hopefully he plays good defense?

Spoil sport..can't we keep Tacko for the Charge?!

He got a little highlight video l posted:

He looks good to me for a two way player. These are highlights though. Hopefully we see him in the preseason game and see.

Looking a little deeper, last year his 3% was pretty good. He'd be a good 2-way.

Who was available on the market for a 5th big job in their prime? Davis likely knows he's only seeing garbage time minutes unless injuries hit. Not many players in their prime would wanna sign for that role. Let alone who was on the market in their prime that you would rather have sign to be the 5th big?

Looks like he can definitely shoot the 3 a little bit. Kyle Guy made an appearance in that video too.

Ed's always been a reliable basketball player.. fundamental.. not flashy.. he has no detectable ego, so he won't be screwing around in his relief minutes.. ..

exactly imo
not somebody I expect to actually be around very long besides maybe an eye towards g league developing or something.
I mean if this is the best they can do they would be better off randomly selecting somebody at pick up games around the city

He has about the same wear and tear as TT, and even in his prime was the poor man's Tristan Thompson. According to Fedor, this was Bickerstaff's call for a veteran leader.

I'll say this: Whoever needs to join the end of the bench to make our young players less stubbornly bad at the team concept... sign them all.

I love the ridiculous narrative of signing these washed up end-of-bench players as "veteran leaders" or "locker room guys". Not everyone is Udonis Haslem.

Davis has 6 fouls to give and that's probably it.

I like Garland's skill set a lot. It's just that personality/leadership/aggressiveness-wise, he's starting to look a bit like Mo Williams. A nice player, but never seemed to perform at the level his skills should have enabled. That's okay when you're playing with a high-usage, dominant player like LBJ. But it's less good when you're looking for him to be one of the driving forces of your team.
Maybe once Mobley becomes the star he is, Garland could be the number 2 or 3 player we always wanted. I think Garland can learn a lot from Rubio too.

I don't think it is a coincidence that both Sexton and Galrand look out of sorts.

The additions of Mobley and Markannen -- plus the re-incorporation of a (temporarily) healthy Kevin Love) -- has meant a significant shift in offensive emphasis to which I think the guards are still adjusting. Last year, they had to carry the scoring/usage load out of necessity, and that's how they played. We were a backcourt-centered team. This year, they are expected to push a lot of that towards the frontcourt, and I think it is going to take at least 20 games for them to get comfortable with this more balanced frontcourt/backcourt scoring balance.

It looks bad right now, but I think if we consider the magnitude of this offensive change, it is more understandable.
Good point and it shows we now have talent in the offensive side of the floor. Last year it was relied on Garland and Sexton to create. It has been struggling to watch at first but we need them to adjust and how they can utilize wihggood talent on the floor. Our new additions with Lauri, Rubio, and Mobley are going to help the team a lot.

The keepers of peace in an NBA locker room is an underestimated value. Channing Frye had the role, Delly had it as well. I don't know if Davis can actually provide it (if Fedor is to be believed, he can), but the team seemingly likes each other right now. There are a few young guys who may not like that they aren't getting minutes though and those are the kind of egos you need to keep in check over 82, when personal agendas start to get in the way of team agendas.
