Columbus Blue Jackets thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bodqvist is an uber talented defensemen, but not so defensive minded. He needs some work but he could be a huge asset on the power play.

Bean was a former 1st rounder who was buried in Carolina's ddddeeeeepppp defensive core. He's not very solid in his own end yet, but again he's a good power play guy.

Kent Johnson is/was the most talented offensive player in the draft. Some questions on defense and skating (he's small for a center) but he could be a 60 point player in the NHL some day.

Cole Sillinger is the son of former NHL'er Mike Sillinger, and was born in Columbus when his father played with the Jackets. He has a hell of a wrister and is just a big dude. Could be a 30 or 40 goal scorer and a plus defender at the next level.

Corson Ceulemans (pronounced like Cool-e-mans) is a RHD who has a good shot and good passing instincts. Raw on the defensive side and might not have the IQ to be a top pairing guy, but his offense will get him some play at the NHL level.

The Jackets also added a 2022 1st rounder that's top 2 protected in the trade for Jones.

Obviously there is a key theme, and that's improving offense and the powerplay. The Jackets have an identity of being tough, physical and defensive, yet they are clearly sending a message that it's time for a change. They want to improve their offense, particularly their powerplay immediately. None of their draft picks are going to be NHL ready for next year, but it refills a bad pipeline and gives them some serious hope for the future.

It's an exciting and exhausting day for the Jackets. I feel like they probably got better today, especially in the long run, but losing Jones is going to hurt. Losing elite defensemen isn't always easy to recover from.

Jackets still making moves. Cam Atkinson traded to Philly.

Jakub Voracek came back! Jackets never should have traded him for that sack of shit Jeff Carter.

Jackets season about to get underway!

Some former Jackets returning, another Columbus native on the team and a young Cole Sillinger and Yegor Chinakhov to look forward to. I'll be keeping an eye on the development of Texier too, speedy Foudy and Robinson will also get some run.

How does Laine produce with Jakub Voráček often looking for him?

Does Jack Roslovic take another step as a playmaker, how about Max Domi (quite the recovery from offseason surgery!)?

Will be interested to see who steps into captaincy leadership role, I'd wager Jenner. But Bjorkstrand and Werenski play the right way as well.

Vegas Knights games look fucking sick

They yell out "Knight!" During the national anthem in unison

There's essentially a full on rave prior to puck drop, probably free MDMA upon entry too

I've got a buddy that lives in Vegas, huge Knights fan. He keeps telling me that the in person experience is such a great vibe. Might have to take him up on the offer to go to a game someday.

Do so!

Sport is insane in person. Went to a SJ Sharks game with family while visiting, when play gets drab one guy in the section will yell "Hit somebody!" then the majority of the surrounding region retort, "Anybody!"

Also won some free tix my family were later able to claim, as a promotional puck was placed at a local park and I happened across it atop a post.

Aaaaaand we’re back in cap hell. I love the signing but we’re gonna have to make some moves to free up cap to resign our own guys.

The franchise just got a star in his prime, a true star, and an unrestricted free agent that actually chose Columbus.

This marks something massive for the franchise, but you’re worried about cap space? C’mon man. They could get off Gus easily, he has positive value, and that gets them to about $8.6M in space.

Maybe you send out Bean or Robinson and you have enough for a Laine $8.2M AAV x 6 and bring back your other RFA’s.
