Welp, it’s over. Retirement or trade. What a weird career for such a high level talent.
I've had my ups and downs regarding Kyrie. Just wanna say that while I may not agree with his antivax stance, I respect that he's willing to truly stand up for what he believes, as opposed to the bullshit that guys like Wiggins tried to pull off.

For all the theatrics that we see in the NBA, I think that Kyrie is willing to back up his actions, regardless of what it costs him. In a world where so many of us want to conform, I can at least respect his resolve.

It was kind of nice when the NBA was mostly about just the game on the court.

The only thing that separates it from professional wrestling at this point is that the outcomes aren't pre-determined (as far as we know). I think it's going to take the Cavs having another generational talent for me to ever come back to the point of fandom I was at previously. The league is just not a good product for me right now.

It seemed like Wiggins just changed his mind? He was hesitant but probably prioritized playing over his personal anxiety.

I don't think Kyrie particularly cares about the science or actually playing again over making a statement and becoming a cultural figure or whatever. He always seemed to have misplaced resolve over stupid shit like trying to lead a team to a championship when he's just flat out not a leader.

Might not take a generational player for me, but it would take the Cavs being watchable. At this point in my life, I'm just a Cavs fan, not a basketball fan. I haven't been a fan of the NBA in ages.

I'm not privy to his personal thoughts, but the fact that he tried the religious exemption angle and then caved when he realized what it was gonna cost him came off as weak to me.

Maybe. He certainly isn't your average Joe, that's for sure.

He’s neither a leader nor a follower. That’s a problem in a team sport like basketball.

Vegas has the Cavs pegged for 25.5 wins this year, which is 4th worst behind OKC, Houston, & Orlando. Given the improvement in the East and how brutal our schedule is to start, that may be about right. This season will be a success if we can:

1) develop Mobley.
2) solve the mini SexLand backcourt quandary.
3) move Love, either via trade or buyout, at some point.

Philly definitely looks bad. They threw Simmons under the bus after the playoffs and made it very clear they wanted to trade him.

Of course he doesn't want to play.

Cav have so many more defensive players this year, and they are deeper and are less sensitive to Love being hurt as a major cog or Nance. Now, it's possible to have an injury riddled season again, but I have not personally seen so many players from a team out as last year.
talent
I have to think even with the East improving that the Cavs are going to be significantly better. This is only 3 + wins from last year even though there will be 10 more games and the team is healthy again.

I really think the overall talent on the team has increased. The bench is without question significantly better.

Defense has increased, but this is the opinion I am least confident in

Offensive talent was increased by addition of Markannen and Rubio and I have to think there will be some internal growth. Windler hopefully helps teh offense as well and maybe the defense.

I think provided there aren't catastrophic injuries again across the board where multiple positions are wiped out at the same time, the Cavs will easily hit the over. Question for me is whether the east is so good that they don't even sniff the play in with 30 wins or so
