Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’m kinda worried about Greedy. I can’t remember which arm he hurt Sunday and which shoulder he originally had issues with, but the way he was holding his arm and opening/closing his fist looked like something nerve related.

Sounds like it was a stinger FWIW, hence the loss of feeling.

Nerves are weird. Once COVID hit and my office went remote, I thought I was dying because all of a sudden I would get shooting pains in my feet / knees out of nowhere. Turns out it was because when I was working on my couch sitting crosslegged for such long durations, I was experiencing nerve pain simply due to poor blood circulation. Once I established a proper home office, never experienced it again.

The human body can be a mystery at times.

Landry is clearly a big part of the offense and was sorely missed.

Would anyone offer this much for Austin Hooper?

I feel like Njoku should command way more than Ertz just did but I'd be interesting in taking a look at possibly moving Hooper before the deadline.

I don't know Green Bay's cap situation but they seem like a team that should have some interest.

Doubtful.

I think I was unaware of just how bad his contract is.

According to Spotrac, he is owed:

2022: 9.5 mil base, 2 mil signing, 1.75 mil option, 11.250 in dead cap

There is an out in 2023, with a dead cap of 7.5 mil.

Oooof. Tough one. I'd imagine we'd have to attach a pick to him to get rid of him right now. But that is just my guess.

Ertz was 5.7 mil base, no bonus or restructure money.... with a dead cap of 5.7 and also in the last year of his deal.

Welp, this is why we have two great RBs. Hunt is going to do just fine. He's not the HR threat, but he'll do just fine this week.

This is Baker's time to step up...let it rip...I wanna see this on Sunday:

Baker has been hesitant to throw the ball down the field this season...hopefully this forces his hand and can help our offense be more balanced moving forward.

Hunt may do just fine, but this is a huge fucking blow to the team

The real blow is the questionable list

Clowney, Conklin, Garrett, Green, Hunt, McKinley, Newsome, Tretter, Ward, Wills.

All 3 of our Defensive Ends, our 2 starting corners plus a backup corner, both tackles, our center and our other starting RB.

That is a devastating list and some will be out for sure, no way they all play Sunday.

This shouldnt be a surprise to anyone on this board, there have been numerous conversations about his contract and when best to cut him.

Also dont just quote sportrac, there is no "out" after 2023. Thats just when his dead cap hit drops below some random threshold. But more or less the best time to cut and run with Hooper would probably be after this year, with the assumption the browns can re-sign Njoku. The reason is that every year you dont cut Hooper means the next year there is a big cap hit. At some point you just have to accept the hit and move on. Unless you are going to let him take up 10 million in cap space every year for the next 2 years after this (which seems very unlikely)
