2021 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Guarantee they move up A&M well into the rankings to justify keeping Bama in the top 5.

Good thing the AP Poll doesn't mean shit anymore.
It affects the perception of "quality wins" and a general ranking. If anyone thinks those two things don't influence the selection committee, they're living in a dream world.

We all know the playoff is going to be Georgia, Bama, OSU, and OU.

No we dont. Not if Georgia beats Bama in the SEC title game.
Also Georgia has to beat UK and Florida the next two weeks.
If they lose either of those plus a loss to Bama will knock them out.

OU barely survives literally EVERY week. They are bound to get beat by someone.

Also if Cincy wins out they will be in...
LOT of games left to be played.

I was being cynical with my first post. I agree with everything you said besides the last sentence. There are definitely scenarios where UC gets left out in the cold.

Cincy probably needs ND to keep winning since it's the only good team they play.

ND eeked out a win against Va Tech this past Saturday, so good for UC.

Games of great import

I used to do this every week, but real life has been hectic. So here goes:

Auburn at Arkansas, noon - Bama losing may have thrown the SEC West in chaos. Every team has 1 or 2 losses in conference right now. So if you can beat Bama, you can win the SEC West...maybe. Bama does dodge Georgia and did win @ Florida. However, Auburn and Arkansas (as well as Mississippi) are good enough to beat Bama, I think. So this could have big implications.

Sparty at Indiana, noon - Sparty comes in undefeated and ranked 10th. Indiana is 2-3, barely beat WKU, and Michael Penix is definitely not 100%. Yet MSU is only -4.5. Would be big of OSU's resume for MSU, Michigan, PSU and Iowa to win when they aren't playing each other.

Okie St. at Texas, noon - Texas comes in after inexplicably choking vs Oklahoma. Okie St is undefeated, although their average margin of victory is just under 7. Okie St. has a bit of a clear schedule after this until the season ender vs Oklahoma, given that they've already beaten KSU and Baylor. An Okie St. win may pave the way for an insane Bedlam game.

UCF at Cincy, noon - SMU and Houston are currently ranked. Cincy plays SMU in November, and would play Houston in the AAC title games. Cincy probably needs to win every other game by at least 3 scores to impress the committee. Or maybe they could win every game by 70 and it wouldn't matter.

Kentucky at Uga, 3:30 - Kentucky is undefeated and ranked #11. They play Mississippi St, Tennessee and Vandy in conference the rest of the way. If Kentucky somehow wins this game, they are very likely headed to the SEC title game. I mean, Georgia is almost certainly going to win, but if not, extreme chaos.

Purdue at Iowa, 3:30 - Schedule does Iowa a solid, giving them a home game after a big win. Purdue is Purdue, so if Iowa is down, even the home crowd might not be enough. Obviously, a 12-0 Iowa at the B1G title game is a big resume booster for the B1G East champ, and a good way for the B1G to get 2 teams in the CFP.

If LSU let's Orgeron go I think Fickell is gonna get the job.

Oregon ties heading into the 4th. If they fall that leaves Arizona St as the only 1 loss Pac12 team

Oregon looks bad.

They looked bad against Fresno state.

They looked bad in their loss to a bad Stanford team.

And they looked bad last night against one of the worst teams in power 5.

That loss looks like a pile of poo at this point.

On that same note, Alabama is way overrated based on their own resume.

Arkansas has 3 losses now, Miami is fucking awful, and Florida is pretty shitty too.

They have no good wins and a bad loss.

Be interested in where the committee would rank them right now.

They shouldn't be ahead of Penn State imo.

They've never been good. It was a perfect storm for them to beat us...our defense was at its lowest point in the history of the program, Stroud was injured, and Henderson hadn't been established yet as RB1.

Rematch today and Buckeyes win by 20+
