Dunno how the committee will see things, and I know we get plenty of benefit of the doubt, but holy fuck is it annoying how quickly Bama gets forgiven. Already back in the top 4 for beating Mississippi State.

This season of chaos will end on a real sour note if they send 2 SEC teams again.

It’s laughable.

its so bad. That was a bad loss. Much worse than OSUs loss to oregon and I hate OSU.

It may be annoying. But, are there really 4 teams better than them? I don’t think there are.

Do you think TAMU is better than them?
Alabama proved that any given crappy team can be better than them.

Well what do you mean by better? Were the 2007 Giants better than the Patriots? They won the superbowl and are forever superbowl champions.

For some reason the structure of NCAA football is unlike any other sport. Its the only sport where people think the goal is to pick “the best team”. No other sport crowns a champion this way. Every other sport says “you do x, y, z and you win”. You win your division/conference you EARNED entry to the playoffs. You win the playoffs you EARNED being a champion. And if you do those things no one questions whether that team was the best team or even considers that a legitimate question.

So the NCAA really needs to get rid of the term playoff to describe the garbage that is the CFP. Because it isnt. It is an invitational and the decisions on who to invite are based purely on money and ratings and the committee has deluded everyone to believe the bullshit they spew.

Not really the fault of the NCAA though. The top division of CFB never had a unified structure. Conferences, top schools, bowl games, TV networks etc all have an influence but for various reasons nothing comprehensive or legit has ever been in place. The MAC for example is in the same division as the Big Ten but that’s a joke. When the NCAA clashed with schools over TV they lost in court.

Committee votes determine who is in or out. George Will famously derided football as a combination of two of the worst aspects of America - violence and committee meetings [huddles], but only the CFP literally has committee meetings deciding things.

CBB does have a selection committee to select and seed but all of the better teams get in and the knockout tournament does result in a legit champion.

Until CFP expands to sixteen like every other division of CFB the four team selection will always be a corrupt mess.

well I get the history of it. To be honest I prefer the old model where winning your conference meant something. Winning rivalry games meant something, winning a bowl game meant something.

But we are too far gone from that and what we have is a system where it is half in and half out and its the worst of everything tbh.

Fuck all of you for not a single one of you congratulating me on a huge victory for my Boilermakers.

I don’t remember you congratulating me when my Zips took the lead against Ohio State.

I had to put both my kids through Purdue on out-of-state tuition. I just paid off my last loans for them so I don’t owe your fucking school anything.

Nice win. Boiler Up! (btw the Chargers had “Bolt Up!“ all over SoFi; that’s unattributed cultural appropriation).

Wrecked my lousy joke over financial literalism. Actually I refinanced via SoFi so I saw some of my interest expense dollars at work eight days ago. Probably paid for three rivets.

Didnt you know Lee makes $200k a year in the finance industry?
