Mobley doesnt have the strength to guard about half the centers in the league and he might never really have that strength. His shot is developing, and I agree PF need a good 3 point shot these days typically. But Giannis, Zion, Draymond, all PF who shoot about the same from 3 right now and are top 10 PF's.

Mobley shot 30% last year from 3, and is working on the shot, he will be fine in a couple of years from distance. But I just dont see him being able to guard the Jokic, Vucevic, Valacunas, Lopez, Adams, Nurkic, Howard, Kanter, Bam, Towns, Gobert, Embiid and so on of the world. Maybe I am wrong and he can guard them some day, but i just see his shot developing being more likely than him adding enough size and strength to guard those guys.

Maybe both happens, we will see.
So few of these guys are actually threats to take over a game and win it by "banging" in the post. Embiid, Towns, AD when he's in the right mood, maybe Bam is getting there. Jokic is awesome but muscling guys in the post is not his game. The rest of these guys? Come on, Kanter? You don't game plan for Kanter. I don't see a lot of matchups I'm worried about here, and when you do have to deal with Embiid you've got Allen.

I think Mobley is going to be able to defend pretty much everyone other than the very biggest bigs and the fastest guards. In a small sample he looks like he's basically there already. Not bad for one guy!

Some players, especially the fastest guards/wings are not guardable one on one by anyone. Mobley changes so many thoughts. he gets in the heads of the other team's offense, changes shots by just being on the court....i am amazed at his defense.

Lack of strength is apparent with so many missed bunnies tonight, but his length and ability to stay with guards is amazing.

Totally. There's no one in this league who is going to be able to play Mobley off the floor. Although I'm looking forward to seeing if he defends LeBron at all on Friday, that will be really interesting even though LeBron looks a step slow this year. I'd love to see how he would guard KD too.

Mobley's inexperience is showing somewhat when defending shooters on the perimeter. It's the NBA, you need to take pretty much everyone seriously out there, unlike in college.

When he has someone like Batum out there holding the ball, he needs to be right in his face. Nic isn't gonna drive by him at this stage of his career, but he'll make threes all day.

I really hope his offensive game continues to develop. He probably could easily have had 20 tonight. I don’t watch the other rookies, but he is effecting every game he plays in.
i was trying to watch Paul George and he was definitely effected by this teams length. What a start to the year.

For all the fans that were annoyed of having our prized rookies the past few seasons (Sexton then Garland then Okoro) play a ton and rank near or at the bottom of every advanced metric.....

How you liking Mobley so far? Different experience seeing an immediate awesome impact through four games. Hard not to love what this kid brings to the table.

The Raptor stuff has already popped up here...

20-25 min per game (depending on 4 of 5 games played) for a leaderboard (Evan is playing 33 as a rookie).

WAR: 0.4 - #25 overall
DEF Box Score Raptor: +5.3 - #7 overall
DEF Overall Raptor: +5.6 - #6 overall
Overall Raptor: +3.6 - #32 Overall

For some context, the best rookies in these categories last season.

WAR: 4.3 - #68 overall
DEF Box Score Raptor: +2.9 - #14 overall
DEF Overall Raptor: +3.1 - #11 overall
Overall Raptor: +2.2 - #61 overall

Think about how wild that is through 5 games.

He is outperforming not the best rookie overall, he is outperforming the best rookie in each category, across the board (through 5 games).

A player shouldn't be this good this soon. Definitely will be interesting to monitor how he trends throughout the year.

He jus manages to be productive every night on both ends whether he’s struggling with his shot or not getting calls(shoulda had 12FT tonight, fouled in the paint at least 3-4 times with no call).
His ceiling is so high im not sure it even exists a He may always have an opportunity to improve something that he does OK but not great. He does it all. Literally.

Only credited for two blocks tonight but look what this man did to them...

I lost it when he locked up Terance Mann on that isolation.
This is absurd, I don't know if I've ever seen anything like this from a basketball player. He just kind of locks down an entire area of the court, it doesn't seem to matter if the opponent dishes off to a teammate either he just adjusts and locks the next guy down too. How is he this good of a defender? Like WTF?

If this continues from Mobley can he possibly Be on the all defense first team in his rookie year?
