2022 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Where is Jabari Smith?
Can someone explain to me why Jabari isn’t on a tier with Banchero and Holmgren? I’ve genuinely never watched him aside from his early season highlight reels, but it seems like he’s got much more length and defensive upside than Banchero and a much better NBA frame than Holmgren. Combine that with the clips of him driving the length of the floor and smooth pull ups from 3, and it seems to me like his NBA fit is just much smoother?

Does he float in and out of games or something? Is his shot not consistent?

Dunno. I'm with you. I only watched his highlights though. He intrigues me the most.

First impression (off of highlight reels so take it with a ton of salt) is that he’s got some big wing Paul George-esque type upside.

He is also a true 6'10.
A big hesitation I’ve had with Banchero is that he may not have the length and athleticism to be a huge plus as a defender. All of the guys he’s compared to (Melo, Jabari Parker, even some Blake and Randle) weren’t very good defenders by NBA standards, and you kind of need it to have an elite impact as a PF in today’s game. Jabari smith has that length and seemingly more shooting range than Banchero, so I’m really quite confused about the whole thing from an upside perspective.

Jabari Smith Jr = Dad played in the NBA. Cousin to Kwame Brown.
DG = Dad played in the NBA
Mobley = Dad played in the NBA.

I like this trend. Jabari probably already good at the fundamentals too. I’ll be tuned in.

Is Jabari a PF or SF? I’ve seen him listed as a PF. He seems fluid enough to slide right to the SF spot too.

He looks like a 2k created player in the thumbnail

To me, it is probably that he hasn't really exhibited on ball half court value, which makes his ceiling a little more fuzzy.

He looks like he honestly dribbles in slow motion........it is one of the more deliberate, mechanical ones I have seen from a top 5 guy.

If a guy doesn't project as having #1 offensive option potential, I think his value tends to level off. Smith is probably going to still go in the top 5 or 6........but I think he needs a lot of offensive development to be more than a stretch 4 type.

Banchero you just see the 3 level scoring ooze out of him. It is more a question with him, if he will develop the necessary passing baseline to be a true #1 guy.......but seems like at least a good bet as a #1B. Smith looks like more of a #2B or #3 to me offensively. So I would suspect that is why most initial scouting reports drop him a tier.

Impressive! Another stud freshman who’s making the game look easy. Smith is listed as a PF, but I agree he has the fluidity & outside shot to play some SF as well. Unfortunately, Smith’s easily a top 7 pick and the Cavs won’t so much as sniff him.

PBJ plays #24 Florida this week.

Will be interesting to see him against a power conference team, will only get to see that twice until a potential tourney game, with his other against Colorado and Jabari Walker who himself is a draft prospect.
Jabari Walker is a guy who could be in the Cavs' draft range. He's the son of Samaki Walker, who some might remember from his Louisville days.

My favorite guy fit wise right now is definitely Houstan. He looks like he can defend guards and wings as well, 3&D with some good ball movement. Rich men's Windler maybe? Id love him with Garland + the trees in the starting lineup.

But anyway what's important is that this draft is looking exactly like what we need early. Deep with a bunch of quality players all over, and a lot of fine wings wings/big guards we could pick.

PBJ has been my crush since last year, and turned to love once we got Mobley. I'll leave the breakdown to @RchfldCavRaised since you asked him, but very simply, I see a more athletic Michael Porter Jr with a better attitude and health.

Do we really want another player who played for their dad in college? Has that ever worked out for us?
