Not doubting you but do you have actual stats proving that. Because from I saw the other day only four players in the league are shooting over 40% from three land (two of them are the Curry brothers)
Last season, there were 70 players (yes, I was surprised) who shot over 40% from 3s among those who attempted at least two 3 pointers per game.

There was nobody who shot even close to 60% from mid range, and only 9 players who shot over 50% from mid range among those who attempted at least two mid range shots per game.

You can certainly adjust the filter by looking at players with more attempts per game, but these stats I presented above should be enough to show the staggering advantage of shooting 3s over mid range shots.

No idea where you're getting your numbers. Small sample size since it's early in the season, but this current season, among players attempting at least 2 three pointers per game, there are 51 players shooting 40% or better from 3s.

This doesn't mean basketball is better or worse to watch. That's everyone's preference. But you can't argue, at least not with actual numbers, that mid range shots are more efficient shots than 3 pointers.

Thanks for posting the stats for me.

And you hit the nail on the head.

It’s not about what we’d rather watch aesthetically. It’s about what leads to the most productive offense.

Aesthetically, give me a nice post entry and an up and under any day. However, as a fan who wants to see my team win games, shoot the 3!!!!

when is that 7 foot unicorn guy we drafted who was doing everything on both ends gonna play again

but not soon enough!!!!!!!!

Still, with most of our front court back, Cavs are must see TV imo. Those suckers who only watch national games get heavy doses pretty much unwatchable Laker games.
I wonder how many national games the Rockets got this season.

Maybe sooner than you think

The Benevolence of King James now extends to Eastern Conference teams. The Wizards are a better team for that trade. Caruso is killing it in Chicago. The Lakers....?
I know! LeBron doesn't seem to get "fit" nearly as well as you'd think he would. You have AD, you have yourself, everyone else needs to play a role. Instead he wants this 3 headed monster, but that doesn't work without at least one guy who can really defer his talents. Not exactly a Russ strong suit, and you don't want James or AD deferring.

“There was nobody who shot even close to 60% from mid range, and only 9 players who shot over 50% from mid range among those who attempted at least two mid range shots per game.”……again I agree with your points but not shooting a high % from midrange could be because there’s a stronger defensive presence on those possessions. You rarely see a strong defensive effort on three point attempts.
And as pointed out…..IT IS a matter of choice of what kind of game you prefer to watch. Watching guys jack up threes every other trip down the floor doesn’t excite me. Give me an acrobatic twisting lay up in traffic for an AND 1 anytime over a three pointer.

This is what you said a few posts ago:
Yes 3 is greater than 2 but I posted those figures because the poster I was responding to said that “mid range shots were less efficient than 3 pointers”! Which is ridiculous!

This is the only statement I'm addressing. The question is "which shot is more efficient?" Therefore, it does NOT matter the reason behind low mid range percentage, and it does NOT matter whether you or I like watching guys jack up 3s.

Other posters explained to you why your statement was wrong. Then you asked for links on guys shooting over 40% from 3s because you said it was just 3 guys who are doing that this season - I provided them for you (70 players last yr, 51 this yr)

Again, you said that mid range shots being less efficient type of shots than 3 pointers was ridiculous. That's all I'm addressing. Other posters and I are telling you it's not ridiculous. It's just numbers whether we like it or not.

They could have run most of that team back from last season and be golden now. Now they've going to have to figure out something at the deadline. Probably a deal involving Talen Horton-Tucker.

Really crossing my fingers that he plays his last NBA basketball in LA.
