Irwin R. Schyster....lol

I don’t see sexton as a rfa getting a big offer
Look for the Cavs to match anything
Unless sexton decides to play. 1 year and then become a ufa. That would be one hell of a bet on himself
I don't disagree and the Pels fans were saying the same thing last season about Lonzo. I've seen this script before is all I'm saying.

This thread has turned into a mess. You guys usually entertain me though so I'm not complaining here.

Sadly I will say that Collin has likely played his last game in a Cav uniform. I was really rooting for him the past 3+ years to succeed in Cle but the script is telling me something else. Assuming the Cavs get some weak @ss return in a sign and trade (similar to what the Pels got for Ball) and if Okoro doesn't pan out then I would seriously start to question Koby. The team is fighting but the SG/big wing positions are in shambles.

DG keeps improving and obviously Mobley was a no brainer. Koby has spent the rest of the draft selections incl 2 lottery picks on Collin, Okoro, Windler and KPJ. No bueno.

On the bright side the Sexton situation is still better than Denver and MPJ. Can you imagine being on the hook to pay him $150 mil over the next 5 years now that he has developed another nerve issue in his back. How do you build around Jokic? Brutal. At least the Cavs were in a total rebuild when they got themselves into the Love contract.

I could see a good coach and/or GM deciding they want the Cavs job towards the end of the season because the team might look like they are on the verge of breaking out. Someone might see the potential and figure they can be the one to put the pieces together to make it all work. I think JBB is the Marc Jackson of this team and hopefully the Steve Kerry type can see the potential in this team.

I think a higher level tier coach could easily envision how they get Sexton, Garland, and Mobley all to work. Someone will either get into Koby or Dan Gilbert's ear about how they can put this team together. I think that will be a compelling vision to keep Sexton and move into a different direction with a new coach and/or GM.

If it's a new GM it could be someone internal who just sells their vision to Gilbert over whatever Koby wants to do moving forward.

If luke walton can recreate his gsw magic... that would be a hell of a hire

We’re really missing Collin. The absence of his scoring has forced DG and Rubio to take way too many shots. Dean Wade does a competent job defensively but is not a legit offensive option; Okoro is a 10 ppg guy right now; Jarrett Allen can get some buckets but usually can’t create his own shot.

Ton of work to do on the offensive end even when we get Mobley and Cedi back.

I think what we've seen these first few games without Collin will continue throughout the season. He's a good player and he makes the team better. We miss his ability to get a bucket when he is not out there. But I also think we are seeing that, while is he is good, he's not irreplaceable. With Cedi & Mobley, or maybe even just one of them, we likely win last night. That's been true every game since Collin got hurt. We could have used him in all of those games, but his not being there wasn't debilitating. I'd like to keep him around for the foreseeable future, he's useful, and should get paid useful, not star, dollars. If he can't accept that, or if he can convince someone else that he's worth closer to star dollars (more power to him), then I think we can replace him and be OK.

I look at it that our ceiling is higher if we can figure out how to get Sexton, Garland, and Mobley to work. There is more room for guys to have off night and stay healthier because they won't have to carry such a heavy load.

Im not sure it will be easy to replace Sexton. We saw this off season how unwilling players were to come here. I doubt that changes until we can have some sustained success year after year with this team.

If you had him in the mix right now ***playing within the offense***, and making shots the way he’s capable of, we’d really be cooking.

This is where I don't think him being here matters. Does he play within the offense often enough to be counted on for winning plays?
