Collecting Obsessions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh man! Those Avengers are wonderful!

He better love it!

I am so glad that you have got into the obsession! Hunting for rare models and deals helps one pass the time.

Are you planning on an Avenger as well for your MBA present?

Or are you still looking at the Omega or Tudor?
Here's what I ended up getting him. Since we're all working from home I wanted to get him something I could picture him wearing on his Harley. He's 10 years older than me and helped pay for some of my private school back in the day so I'm glad to return some love.

As far as my gift, every time I look at the Black Bay bronze I fall in love with it again. I think that'll be the winner.

Very nice!

You are a good brother!

I think I might shit myself if anyone in my family, or life in general, ever got me something that nice.

The bronze is a nice watch. The have a silver version now too, .935 solid silver.

I know the bronze gets a patina with it that some hate and some love. That silver tarnishing would drive me crazy I feel like. I know you mentioned wanting a Tudor with gems on the bezel? Where do you get that done?

Also one more question if you'll indulge me. I could have gotten the watch I got cheaper if I went with a professional dealer from Hong Kong on Chrono24 but I ended up buying from one in England. Have you bought from one of the pro dealers outside of Europe?

So Tudor submariners are the same as the Rolex, and Rolex has made a number of gem bezels over the years. And also, one can have them custom made. It is not as expensive as one might suppose. But there are a number of reputable jewelers that do them.

Many high end watch companies will have the occasional diamond or gem bezel. One has to look for them though. One can have a custom bezel made for most high-end watches. I have a factory diamond bezel for my LE Breitling Chronomat.

==============

I have! I bought the Omega Regatta chrono from a professional dealer out of Japan. Worked out quite well, though import fees add up.

@Sebastian I wanted to follow up, finally took the plunge. Having this baby delivered next week.

Oh nice!

I love those! That is the perfect all-purpose dress or casual watch. Love the dial.

I realized it has been a while, and I did get the Omega Regatta watch, in titanium. It is great. I use it for barbecuing as it makes it easy, at a glance, to know when to flip meat.

I touched on it in the Hall of Fame thread, but I have also collect RIAA award records (gold, platinum, etc).

A few pieces.

I do really like the look of this, definitely unique. What do the red and blue indicators mean in the middle?

I'm hoping for my graduation my family gets me a Seamaster, I've been planting the seeds for awhile.

My next watch I think will be a Breitling Navitimer. I just didn't want to drop 6k on my first big boy watch.

Navitimers are great! I had a really nice one. I am planning on getting another two. A nice 1461 perhaps, and customizing a Breitling by Bentley with a custom mint green MoP dial with diamond indicators and two different gem bezels. One in diamond, the other in either Tsavorite or Tourmaline.

Seamaster is excellent of course!

The blue and red dots are regatta timers. Each dot represents a minute.

Five blue dots, then five red, and then back down again. Four 5 minute increments one can discern at a glance!

It is why I use it for BBQ.

@Sebastian What all do you have in the collection currently?
I'm actually at a low point right now after selling a few, including a Breitling Navitimer World, about five years ago.

I only have five wristwatches at present:

1) Breitling B-1, F-35 Development Team Edition (super rare, only 30 made for Lockheed Executives and the Test Pilots in 2005).
2) Breitling Chronomat Evolution, Limited Edition for America of 250 (Black MoP, Diamond bezel).
3) Omega Seamaster Professional, (90s Bond Watch).
4) Omega Seamaster Racing 300m in Titanium (Regatta watch).
5) Tudor Black Bay GMT.

Good to see a few Breitlings in your collection, I feel they are underrated in the watch world as a brand.

I also really wanted the Superocean with the rainbow dial but I needed something that covered a few more bases as my first real luxury watch.

The new Superoceans are so nice.

Got into action figure or "adult collectibles" the last 8 months. Not quite at 40 year old virgin status but fuck, I've amassed a lot.

Mostly wrasslin, horror, Star Wars, and then older toys from the 90s for my nostalgia kick.
