I never recall hearing of tanking in the 1990s. But OKC definitely does it. We now have the NBA records for the worst home AND road losses in NBA history, in back to back seasons:I still remember hearing about the Cavs blowout of the Heat in my high school cafeteria the next morning.
The difference between this game and the 1991 classic is the Heat weren't tanking. They started Steve Smith, Ronny Seikley, Bimbo Coles and Glen Rice trying to win it.
Once it became a blowout, both teams emptied their benches... and the Heat were an expansion team with the worst bench in the NBA. Our bench ruined careers that night.
What are your thoughts on them tanking this badly? The odds are different, so there’s really no point in tanking and ruining your players this badly.I never recall hearing of tanking in the 1990s. Sam Presti is brigadier general of the ‘tank.’ Tanking is one thing, but losing by 73 is bringing shame & embarrassment upon your franchise. I’ll laugh if Presti & OKC land outside the top 4 again in the draft lottery. He’ll still have his 30 first round picks to use over the next 5 years, as he petitions the NBA to expand the size of rosters.I never recall hearing of tanking in the 1990s. Oh it's honestly unwatchable. SGA had a legit concussion from two nasty falls I saw in the Rockets game, so I figured it might get bad, but it shouldn't ever get so bad that you lose by a record number of points. I think it was clear they tanked on purpose last season when they set the road loss record and gutted the team prior to SGA's plantar fasciitis injury. They started out the season competitive with him, Horford, and George Hill, but that was too good, so they found ways to get rid of the vets and surround SGA and Dort with bums. There's no real potential in guys like Bazley and Pokusevski. Those guys shouldn't even be in the league, really, much less start or log significant minutes. What are your thoughts on them tanking this badly? My confidence would be shot to hell losing by 73 points as a young professional player. That’s horrible.
How does a pro NBA team even accomplish losing by that much... even with one team on the court scoring 73 by itself would take alot of time...
They've been on a small win streak and have done better defensively since he's been out, so now people are making crazy hot take extrapolations based on that limited data set. Kind of reminds me of some of the stuff I see about Luka. Sometimes folks just need to let their eyes observe and not hunt for every remote analytic out there. Luka and Ja are some of the most exciting, dynamic offensive players in the league. You ultimately want those guys on the court. Some idiot Memphis fan out there is now claiming Ja is overrated. 73 point win, who needs Morant? You know we’d have the here if, say, Garland was out and we win by 73.
Doubt Simmons helps the Nets. He’s like James Harden without the ability to score.Objectively thinking… a my headache for your headache trade of aussie borns Irving and Simmons makes sense (not sure of vaccination requirements in Philly)…. With their standing with their current teams, money involved, talent and fit… might be mutually beneficial
