Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #24 | Jazz @ Cavs | Dec. 5, 2021 | 3:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Interesting. Sounds like a lot of people already have their minds made up. I see the Cavs already taking off and if given the time for continuity and the couple of roster additions that will be made, I don't know why people are so naturally quick to assume to he's not a good enough coach. Certainly not perfect, none of them are.
If you win games like tonight, that's what keeps your job and gets you extended even. We obviously have all season to discuss JBB and know if he's the answer going into a playoff series vs a coach like Rivers or Bud or Nate or Jimmy in the future. I just have my doubts for JBB in potential postseason games.

Great game. Some of the takes are just puzzling. I take the unpopular position saying that i dont like the usage of Garland but i guess better ot to discuss this in a game thread where hot takes are in the majority.

Jazz are absolutely a title contender, best record last season. Guys acting like the Cavs are supposed to beat those guys or even be in a game with them (or the Warriors, Nets, Suns): ...i love your confidence, never change.

On to the next one, that should actually be easier than this one. Try not to ask for the whole team incl. coaches and water carriers to be fired before half time ;)

Gonna go help my wife move some shit in the garage to take my anger out.

I’ll be back to discuss what JBB did wrong more calmly later

Fuck da Jazz
I understand your anger. I have a great deal myself. Not sure what to go about. I might take a Dremel to my ball-sac.

Bud was the biggest playoff choker for YEARS. Including his first year in MIL. Good on him for the title this year. Doc gets tons of hate. Nate the same.

It sounds like basically, in our first step towards even being ready for a playoff berth without LeBron in over 20 years, a lot of people are of the opinion that if the head coach can't get the result of a first series win for a massively young teams first playoff appearance that that just it, ceiling reached for that coach/team combo?

Just feels like a lot of step skipping, a lot of taken for granted many of this critical things JBB is doing, and no belief or patience at all for the coach growing over the course of a few years the same way the players will need to grow, get better, adjust to the difference between the playoffs and regular season, etc.

I don't think that's the way for this team and this market. The reason franchises like Utah have been able to be good for decades(under guys like Sloan and Quinn) is due to stability, the kind of stability where everyone knows their role(since its been developed and defined over years) and its easier then for a new player or two to acclimate quickly into that established culture and continuity.

I dunno. It was always clear that the Jazz were the better team, but then again: so what?

We came this close to shocking them. Why not go all the way while we're at it?

Yeah, I don’t understand the nitpicking.

I also don’t understand how him winning this game here would have made the difference between him being a good coach or a bad coach in 50% of this boards eyes. Being reactionary is how you get into trouble as an organization.

This is literally how this forum has been for the entire decade I’ve been a member. 50% like the coach, 50% don’t like the coach and no one on that side that doesn’t like that coach can be convinced otherwise.

Scott, Brown, Blatt, Lue…every coach got that treatment here. Grass is always greener for some people, just the way it is.

Damn!! Missed the game! I’m taking it as some people are not happy with JB’s coaching in today’s game! What happened?

damn. Like the exact inverse of our game in Toronto.
What are you talking about? If it was inverse of the Toronto game we would’ve been ahead the whole game only to have the Jazz steal the game at the end. The Jazz were ahead pretty much the entire game & they held on to win.

Sounds like you'd have prefered to lose by 25?

This is one of the games played with house money for the Cavs in my book - who expected the team to be in a position to win such games with the last shot before the season started? Many of those tight games were won. This one? We tried. It didnt work out. Doesnt totally negate the effort of the team, doesnt mean everyone is useless/trash/choking.

Theres good lessons to learn from this game. Its not the last shot, that was just a coin flip. In all honesty i am positively surprised by the adjustment ability of this coaching staff that was mostly unknown to me before following this season. I expect an adjustment in the way Garland plays in the near future.

Just popped in after watching game on dvr delay. I’m not even gonna bother reading a single post in this thread, because its usually a shit show of ultimate small sample size hot takes. Let me guess, this loss is JBBs fault? Whatever. This was one of the most exciting games Ive watched in years. Proud of this team for never quitting. Thats coaching. I feel even more positive about the future of this team after this loss.
