2021 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hearing Ok State's Jim Knowles is likely going to be OSU's DC. Certainly would be an upgrade over Coombs.

Knowles got the absolute most out a defense with no real next level stars.

Would be a great get.

Yeah, I mean when was the last time any Big 12 team had a competent defense?

To do that and much more at Oklahoma State of all places is pretty impressive.

Hope it happens, certainly can't be worse than Coombs.

Down to us and Florida i've heard and apparently offered him top 5 coordinator salary.

Maybe this goes hand in hand, somewhat........but hasn't Ohio State's issue on defense been more in the player development realm?

Scheme improvement will help some but is Knowles know for PD? Or how do they address that on that side of the ball?

Just looking at the two deep, it is an insane amount of composite stars to not really have any guys who jump out.

Garrett was good on the interior........but everywhere else is it was kind of just a lot of "OK".

Yeah, I think the issues have been both schematic and developmental.

Georgia's weakness is they're, imo, the worst coached of the teams in the playoffs. They were outschemed so badly by Alabama and given a month to prepare Smart underwhelms versus his opponents.

Can't believe some of these coaching changes this year.

Oregon to Miami is definitely, no questions asked, 100% a downgrade by Cristobal.

The ONLY thing you can say is that all of the big Florida teams are currently down, so maybe he's thinking he can start recruiting the area again.

We’ll Cristobal is also a Miami native who played at Miami, was a GA at Miami and an offensive assistant at Miami.

I get all of that but still. It's rare see guys just take a straight downgrade job, even if they played there.

Downgrade in terms of what?

I'm with you here.

The one caveat being that there is actual financial commitment.

If there is, I honestly think I'd rather be at Miami.

There are so many built in advantages there.

And for someone who is known as a great, relentless recruiter........assuming they get the facility and financial support, I think that can be a home run move.

I thought I heard somewhere that one of the big reasons for his move is so that he can be closer to his mother, who is ill and still lives in Miami.
