I think he has an awkward, gangly body. I struggle to think of a comparable body type that had a well rounded decent career. He looks like a dude that was never supposed to be that tall but just had a weird growth spurt. And probably without that growth spurt, he would have never gone full on into Basketball and stuck to Tennis. Praying to be wrong because a nice spot shooter off the bench the could be relied on(not just for 3 game hot spurts) would be great for this team. Would love to be wrong but I don't think he succeeds here or elsewhere in the NBA

Tayshaun Prince, Reggie Miller.

He went to play in the G league and still coming off the bench Put a fork in him. Hes just not good enough. Tume to Koby to start trading picks for fresh talent.

The truth is we just don't really have any good enough young talent outside of Garland, Allen, and Mobley. We're forced to place our hopes in Windler and Okoro, yet they're way more likely to be out of the league at the ends of their current contracts than they are to be positive contributors on a playoff team. We need to knock this next pick out of the park, no matter where we draft. And Altman needs to do his homework on the free agent class to find some undervalued guys. Look at how good Gary Payton II has been for the Warriors. Nobody else wanted him.

Dylan Windler is 25 years old. He's not some young, unknown quantity. He should be smack in the middle of his NBA prime. Instead, he is what he is. Which is... not much.

Hell, the dude is older than Lauri, who most people seem to consider a vet instead of a "young" talent. If you haven't established an NBA career by the time you're 25, you have little chance of ever doing it. Sure there are exceptions but Windler doesn't look like one.

As I wrote recently, in a vacuum I can see that Windler has most of the required skills to be a 3 & D guy in someone's regular rotation. But the NBA game is not played in a vacuum. Obviously he's missing something.

I think he's future is in Europe. Luckily he has Pangos to give tips on that front.

I think he should be given time at the 2.

That is definitely not going to happen. The only change I can see taking place is dividing the SG minutes between Cedi (starter) and Okoro (backup).

Windler is a lost cause at this point.

He’s not a lost cause. He’s in his 2nd year. Even though he’s older than most. He’s transitioning from playing essentially as a college big man to having to play as a perimeter wing in the NBA.

He’s cheap enough and has a good enough jump shot to where the Cavs have two more
full seasons to try to develop him into a useful player. He can develop a lot physically and he can get acclimated to a purely perimeter role.

Too early to call him a lost cause. Joe Harris was a lost cause at one point too.

That being said, the fact that the Cavs had seemingly taken Keldon Johnson and then all of a sudden it was changed to Windler definitely stings. Keldon Johnson would be an amazing fit on this team right now. Shooting 41% from three and scoring 15 a game with 6 rebounds. Could slot right into the 3 here.

Oh well

I don't think we are learning anything about him when he plays exclusively garbage time. He hasn't been given any opportunities with Darius, MObley and Allen. That sucks because they need his spacing more than Love and Markannen do.

Be that as it may, a 25 year old end-of-bencher who just got sent down to the G League because he couldn't hack it on an NBA roster isn't suddenly going to get meaningful minutes in the big league. He's trending in the wrong direction anyway. He may NEVER get those minutes again.

People need to understand that JBB obviously considers the guy totally unplayable.
