This is probably the first game of the season I've been truly disappointed with the offensive coaching.

There have been a lot of games earlier this year where the coaches and the scheme have clearly been hamstrung by players (mostly QB) who just couldn't execute.

This game wasn't that. The offense looked competent and capable every time they actually opened it up and allowed Mullens to actually make reads and push the ball. Passing successfully opened up the run as it always does, and they just coached so unbelievably conservative.

They actively hurt their chances tonight with their decision to coach so conservative.

Everyone is bitching about running on 3rd and 4. We have our 3rd string QB in and a pro bowl RB behind him. Hand it to the fucking RB and tell him to get 4 yards. That was the right play call.
if that 3rd string QB hadnt just picked up like 3 3rd down pickups and a 4th down touchdown I would agree. But christ in heaven you play to win. Who gives a shit if the raiders have an extra 30 seconds to do anything with.

The Raiders took possession with 1:50 and no timeouts.

Special shoutout to Colquitt for hitting the punt off the side of his foot. Special teams, including Mike Priefer, totally fucked us.

Wasn’t it a 43 yard punt with no return?

Maybe just play some D.

Ill be honest, i saw the same play calling tonight as the rest of the season. Maybe this was a touch more conservative, but i saw all the same flaws ive seen all season with this offense. Receiver routes that dont go to the first down marker, nothing but short and midrange routes. its all the same bullshit. The only thing tonight that i noticed was the run up the middle on first down. Besides that same conservative horseshit play calling

3rd string QB had a metric fuck ton of momentum in front of a home crowd after leading a TD drive to take the lead and his defense picking the other team's QB, who hadn't been all that good all night.

The Browns sucked the wind right out of their own sails by trying to run the ball on 3rd and 3, and lost accordingly.

AVP is such a pussy with that play call. Mullens would still be running if he would have just called a PA. Or run it to the fucking left at least where you had success

5 of our 7 losses this season are by 6 points or less. I know this happens a lot in the NFL but damn, everyone of those games hurts so much.

Week 1 @ Kansas City 33-29
Week 5 @ Los Angeles 47-42
Week 8 vs Pittsburgh 15-10
Week 12 @ Baltimore 16-10
Week 15 vs Vegas 16-14

Oddly enough, this is how I would rank it from least painful to most painful. Could very well be recency bias though, lol.

Week 1 @ Kansas City - 1st game of the year with a new defense, we played damn well. No shame.
Week 5 @ Los Angeles - we deserved that game and it would've been ours if not for that DPI call
Week 8 vs Pittsburgh - Baker coming off 2 weeks of rest. We murdered their kicker only to shit the bed.
Week 12 @ Baltimore - To pick off a QB 4 times and lose is just... special.
Week 15 vs Vegas - A game we shouldn't win but the season is truly on the line. We had it gave it away. PAIN.

Disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful.

Not the game or the effort by our team - they fought hard and lost a heartbreaker.

No, the disgrace is this thread with all of the hate and bitterness. Just pathetic and sad.

Yeah, but it's not the same thing.

The Browns have called games more conservative than we'd like to see because of how badly Mayfield has struggled with quickly making progressions and how much worse his accuracy has been this season. The game plans are altered because of Mayfield's current limitations. If you want to say those limitations are more magnified because of Mayfield's injuries, that's fine, but either way his inability to execute is the main issue.

I'm not saying Mullens is better than Mayfield, because he's not. His arm in particular is quite weak and limits a lot of the things you can do with Baker than you cannot do with Mullens.

But Mullens stood tall in the pocket all game long. He kept his composure and took hits to complete passes when the situation called for it. He also stepped up in the pocket and maneuvered in the pocket more times in this game than Baker has in any game this season.

They handcuffed Mullens like he was a complete scrub and it seems like they really didn't need to because he looked capable of more than they allowed him to do.

The down that will ultimately define this Browns season.
The perfect time for a play action pass or something to throw the defense off.

too much time on the damn clock left, every damn time. The Saints and Colts must be the only teams in the league who realize this.

At least I can say "it's not Baker". This offense sucks. The defense is what it is under Joe Woods.

Mullens moved the ball but a whole half of punts?

Might be to the Browns' advantage to tank it out, laugh at the Steelers and Ravens taking playoff Ls and try again next year. This team is going nowhere with this situation we have now. Only one guy can get down field in the passing game.
