Ricky Rubio - Take the Money and Limp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Rubio was a glue guy that provided more than we initially expected. Garland was getting better partly because of him. Love and him seemed to gel and work well. He won't be easily replaced, don't fool yourself.

Made it up.
You caught me.

I didn’t want to put it out on the general forum that the initial Lachman indicated a torn ACL, because per my source it couldn’t be fully confirmed because of prior scar tissue without complete imaging. It wasnt released publicly, so I chose to save the full story for more restricted areas of the forum and told what I could to the general forum.

What's a fair deal for Rubio, if we extend him before July 1st? 3/50? 4/65?

I’m thinking 3/45 and I’d probably be uncomfortable going that high honestly. 2 ACLs in same knee, post-30 y/o. The first of those three years might as well be a throwaway year too if he’s still recovering.

Yeah I would disassociate with Rubio. This is a year + injury. Looking probably at the all star break in 2023 given his age and injury history.

The Cavs should have their backup point guard situation well taken care of by then. We have no idea what our roster structure will look like by time he is back as well.

Coming off that injury I’m not convinced the suitors will be lining up at that point so I’m in no way tossing a multi year contract at someone who is not contributing.

(Peace out, cub-scout)

It's crushing still. Would have loved him here long term ~3 yrs, but half of that he won't be himself.

I'd happily sign him to the MLE or a little less once he has recovered, but he won't be able to help any time soon.

Sucks to use his contract like they will end up, but maybe we can get a contributor

There's a very real chance that Rubio retires from the NBA after this.
Rubio will be 32 before the start of next season and much will depend on how his body responds. Two ACL tears in the same knee is tough and you start worrying about life after basketball.

It's just little birdie whispers I heard.

Yeah, I'd even say it's likely. He has generational wealth, a young kid, wants to be in Spain and probably wouldn't play more than a few years anyway (in a bench role) if he kept going.
