What better way to get it started off than with a little old school Jeff Hostetler hype video

1:02 mark where the guy jumps on his back and gets carried is sooooo football…

I wonder how Hos felt about a full 20 seconds of his “highlights“ video being devoted to him getting sacked?

LOL, Hostetler? Joe Montana, please! First athlete I remember liking as a young girl. His career was already nearly over when I started following football in 1992, but I got to see his last game as a 49er, and then his time with the Chiefs.

On the defensive side, I was a big fan of this guy in the 90s. He was a total maniac.

One of the bigger regrets I have…

Like with Larry Bird —-Really not being able to see Joe Montana in his prime…Just looks super cool..

The music in that second video conjures up images of large muscular men grunting and sweating for reasons different than football

I always want to ask Jon Niednagel -- who famously predicted Peyton Manning would be great and Ryan Leaf would be a bust back in 1998, and who insisted Brady only excelled because of Belichick --, why he thought Manning was better than Montana all-time (Niednagel was insistent that Peyton Manning was by far the greatest QB in NFL history). He had Manning and Montana as both ESTP, the top QB type per his expertise. (Brady is classified as ENFP, same as Drew Brees; he and Brees are the only QBs to excel with that type whereas many other good QBs have been ESTP historically.) Was Manning the best because of his size and strength? But what about mobility? Joe was so darn smooth. Like you, I only got to directly observe him during his last years, but when I watch all the highlights, I see more mobility than with Manning. Joe loved the rollouts.

This guy has done so much you just forget about most of it…

Was that a Bubby Brister appearance in there?
I think so. Spielman in there too.

I’ve never went with the Diet Coke as a thirst quencher and that’s got the mind blown a little..

The Michael Jordan of Football. Two of my favorite QBs of all time come from that era: Him and Marino.
It really is like missing out on Larry Bird in his prime.

I saw Montana and the 49ers beat the Browns in the mid 80s. Also saw a lot of Larry Bird in the 80s but he usually beat us up.

Who cares about those bums though. I saw Jim Chones beat Wes Unseld in 1976. Now THAT was real basketball!
