Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Play-in Game #2 | Hawks @ Cavs | April 15, 2022 | 7:30 p.m. ESPN

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lol Lauri dribbled. He doesn’t even have to do that for there to be enough time to call timeout. As soon as he gets the rebound you call timeout and they can advance the ball if there was no dribble/pass made.
Wrong; watch the damn tape.

This was the best outcome. Cavs are a lottery team and need talent.

Games like these make me think we really do need a LeBron to take this team to the level it needs to get to. Yeah, I know, I know. It would be nice to do it without the guy. But when everyone else is scared, doesn't know what to do on offense, is rattled by the defensive coverage, and when the dumbass coach is doing absolutely nothing to help things, you need a LeBron-like talent to be that stabilizing force and get you good shot after good shot. I just don't know what ceiling this team has going forward with Garland as our best offensive player. He's a perfect Robin imo, not an alpha.

Idk if Garland will ever be a guy like Trae who can just totally take over a game like he did in this second half and ensure there's no way his team loses. There was nothing we could do. Young destroyed every coverage we threw at him and made cold blooded bucket after bucket. It just seems like Garland doesn't have that kind of switch to get to that level. Traps, double teams, physicality, and certain paint coverages can make him uncomfortable and force him to either become more uninvolved in the offense than he should be or hoist bad shots.
I see Garland more in a Steve Nash mold. Which means getting one more lottery pick to add more talent isn’t the worst thing.

How are you gonna run a two man game with DG and whoever and have three dudes standing still. We don’t have good shooting! Teams don’t respect that shit! Shooting is a massive problem!

We shot 41% on 29 3-pointers other than for Garland's 1-7. On the game, Garland took 1/3rd of our shots (27 out of 81) and shot 33%. The rest of the team shot 52%. He just had a bad game. Time will tell whether he can become a playoff monster, but he isn't one yet.

No one should be surprised by this, JB has been outcoached all season long when it’s come to adjustments. Zero adjustments on either end. The way our defense was going to get blitzed either way, Love should have gotten a lot more minutes for his offensive ability. Not going to a Stevens to see if he could offer a spark is terrible. Cedi gets 21 mins Tuesday and none tonight… like make up your damn mind. Watching LeVert struggle as the primary ball handler, he should have pivoted on that immediately. He’s just a bad X’s and O’s coach and he gets exposed over and over

Will that happen with JBB as coach? Cuz right now our offense has been taking turns going 1-on-5
What great offense was being run for Young to go off like he did?

Spoiler: it was even less complex than what the Cavs were doing.

Put LeBron on this team and they’re in the finals. Everyone can take a step down on responsibilities on offense. Defense stays elite. LeBron + some roster moves = finals appearances. Even old LeBron.

Also, we clearly had 50% Allen tonight. He was nowhere close to being ready. He would not have been ready for or effective against Bam Adebayo.

Come back hungrier next year. The last two games were honestly better playoff experience than getting absolutely thrashed by a really really good Heat team with multiple stars.

I'm OK with the outcome. I really am.

I am extremely, extremely, extremely concerned about the head coach of this roster in a long term sense. I think we will continue to grow under him, but I also foresee a totally unnecessary playoff disappointment once we ARE ready maturity and talent wise.

All the NBA insiders see Mobley as a Batman. On Bill Simmons podcast they were debating if he’d be 25/12 by his second or third year.

We got our Batman.

Can we sign Exum again to be our primary back up pg?

Draft a wing
Sign exum or rubio
Sign sexton
Sign shooters
Develop our young guys

Bickerstaff is an empty suit, and maybe a real coach pulls out this game, but who on the roster other than Garland did anyone feel confident could make a shot in the second half? Altman has more work to do. Their one guy is better than the Cavs one guy.

And it's not popular, but Sexton would have scored with Trae Young and then fucked Young's wife after the game. So if they're running him out of town, they better find a 2nd option better than Caris LeVert.

Colin Sexton isn't in Trae Young's stratosphere lol.

I’m here to tell you this is a rock solid lottery.

It is found money to get one of the top 14 guys in this class.

I know no one wants to hear it. But there are are so many intriguing wings in this class.
Thanks for making me feel a little better tonight.
