Do Not Sell My Personal Information
All the NBA insiders see Mobley as a Batman. On Bill Simmons podcast they were debating if he’d be 25/12 by his second or third year.

We got our Batman.
Unless you have a rare offensive unicorn like Jokic, I don't think teams built around a big offensively our ideal in the playoffs. I think Mobley can be the best player on the team on the whole because of his defensive impact. But I don't envision him being a guy you just continuously throw the ball down to and have him create over and over.

Put LeBron on this team and they’re in the finals. Everyone can take a step down on responsibilities on offense. Defense stays elite. LeBron + some roster moves = finals appearances. Even old LeBron.
Exactly. Add Lebron and bring back Sexton and this team wins the damn East.

The draft we took Okoro at 5 :chuckle:

Before the draft though. Were you excited? Lol.

My only point is that guys who are generally excited to talk about the draft and their favorite prospects are excited about it EVERY year and swear theres some gems we can get.

I'm just not a dude who gets hyped up about drafting college players. I'll tell you if they're gonna be any use once i see them play.

What great offense was being run for Young to go off like he did?

Spoiler: it was even less complex than what the Cavs were doing.
Spoiler… Garland isn’t Trae yet and also we don’t have the off the ball guys to open up the floor like Atlanta does.

Well the takeaway is you either need a player like that, or you need a better system to help compensate.

But in reality, one of our guys just needs to become an elite offensive player.
Agreed. You can convince yourself that the Cavs can build without an elite offensive talent, and it’s possible. But it’s not the norm - at all.

Good thing is we got 2 guys who have the potential.

Less complex…all I know is we had multiple shot clock violations and desperation heaves.

What’s your point? It was working for them…so why change it? We have a different team. We can’t run the same shit they do. We don’t have Trae.

They also had action that got Heurter 2 layups in the first half. You’re thinking of the end of the game where they high-pick-and-rolled us to death.

Idk if Garland will ever be a guy like Trae who can just totally take over a game like he did in this second half and ensure there's no way his team loses. There was nothing we could do. Young destroyed every coverage we threw at him and made cold blooded bucket after bucket. It just seems like Garland doesn't have that kind of switch to get to that level. Traps, double teams, physicality, and certain paint coverages can make him uncomfortable and force him to either become more uninvolved in the offense than he should be or hoist bad shots.

Trae Young also gets to play a spread floor with multiple elite shooters and 1 athletic rim runner.

Garland is playing with 2 7 footers, one with no range and one with range but needs time to develop it. His 2 guard is a slasher that shoots 33% from 3. So Garlands working with 1 relatively streaky 35-37% 3 pt shooter.

They cant be compared. Two different players with different teams and different offenses. Trae was better for a game like tonight. Garland may be the better guy long term for building a title.

Colin Sexton isn't in Trae Young's stratosphere lol.
We need DG to be in his stratosphere though.

I hope DG learns from his mistakes and how to keep his foot on the neck of his opponent going further. Leaders have that ability.

As usual, the team with the best individual player won.

Young was awesome but the Hawks still only scored 107 points. The Cavs scored 61 in the first half and 40 in the second. They lost the game when they couldn't score in the second half. Just 50 points would have been enough.

The Cavs got a huge break when Capela went down but couldn't take advantage. If Capela doesn't get hurt the game isn't close.

The Cavs started out 6-for-7 on 3's and finished 7-for-29.

Garland was 9-for-27 with 5 turnovers. He was 1-for-7 on 3's. Young, OTOH, had 31 points and 5 assists in the second half. He just decided at halftime to take over the game. I had a feeling he would.

Allen was not 100% or close to it as he only had 11 points and 3 rebounds in 36 minutes but I appreciate him getting out there.

Rondo was a -18 in 15 minutes. Ugh. So much for Playoff Rondo. He shouldn't be back next year. We need a decent backup point guard in the worst way.

If the Cavs had pulled this out somehow I think we would have been beaten convincingly in four games by Miami. So I'm feeling pretty good about getting that draft pick.

Next year with Allen 100%, Mobley stronger and more experienced, and with the addition of Sexton, Wade, and a mid-first round pick this team will be in the thick of it.

I was not rooting for the pick. Team played with too much heart.

But the consilation prize is a good one.

There are some legit SF prospects in this class......and we are now in a position to fill the biggest roster weakness we have.

Silver lining but still exciting.

Here's the last individual stats of the year for the Cavs:

Starters:
Markkanen 26-8-0 with 2 steals and a block in 36 minutes Good game. He was 10-17. I would want him to take even more shots.
Mobley 18-8-5 with 2 blocks 6-12 I want him to take more shots too. 6-12
Allen 11-3-2 with a block in 35 minutes Welcome back! He wasn't up to par, but it was a game effort.
LeVert 16-3-5 with a steal in 40 minutes.
Garland 21-3-9 with 3 steals in 43 minutes. He was only 9-27, so he didn't have it going outside. I'd want him to take fewer shots and give it to Mobley, Markkanen, and Allen.

Bench: 9-10-2 in 22 minutes. Very short bench tonight
Okoro 6-4-0 with a steal in 22 minutes.
Love 3-4-0 with a steal in 10 minutes
Rondo 0-2-2 with a steal in 15 minutes
