10 mins and 2 shots in a knock out game when has been shooting as well from 3 as he has been been recently?

Who would you have sat instead of him?

The only reason he's played so many minutes lately is because Allen's been out.

A fair question, Lauri had an excellent game, and there is always the defensive concern with Love. A couple of mins from each of Lauri, Mobley and Allen would be the obvious answer, give those guys a few more mins rest to keep them fresher. However if Love is playing he has to be featured offensively, get him shots, if he is hot from 3 he can break the game open.

Okoro is a black hole. Tailor a lineup with Love out there in his place, or put him out there in some other capacity. This is another JB failure, Love’s contributions off the bench were instrumental to this team all year, and the HC decided not to even use him.

Maybe the front office wanted to lose this game to keep the pick. He coached like it at times.

I wonder if they want to amicably move on from Love because of age and defensive limitations. Lauri had a heck of a game and made a case for himself to stay and essentially replace Love; he even grabbed some physical boards that I saw. Love at least had a very respectable season, and played great in the first play-in, but we all know time is running out...we'll see what happens.

I hope we can move on from KLove in a way that benefits everyone. I understand some sentimentality but there's a point where pragmatism must win out. Hopefully Love can benefit another team while returning something of value that advances the Cavs chances of improvement.

Love was awesome this year and I'd love to find a way to move him that is beneficial for the Cavs and for Kevin, but moving him in the first place is going to be hard. 30m is a fat chunk of change and I don't see teams lining up to acquire Kevin for that. We may be able to break that into smaller contracts, but its difficult.. The other option is to either eat a terrible contract (Russ, Wall) but that would limit our own financial flexibility in the future. I also dont see any assets the Lakers have that I really want (maybe 27 29 firsts?) and Houston won't give us the things I would (Garuba, Sengun). I also want Russ no where near a Cavs uniform.

Just to throw it out there, but two options I could see are trading with Philly for Tobi and Tor for Pascal. For Tobi, his contract is pretty bad, but Tobi is not a bad player at all as a borderline all-star level guy who would thrive as a 4th option with the Cavs. Pascal is also a bit overpaid, but he is a higher caliber player so would probably cost more assets (Okoro, a couple firsts, Windler?).

If we are unable to move him, I am also fine with letting his contract expire and trying to do something with the capspace in 2023 (like make a move at a certain forward from Los Angles, welcome Norman Powell). I think his game will age well into a 10th man type, so bringing him back in 24 and 25 on like 5m seems reasonable to me.

Love ended up averaging 22.5 minutes. There is no way in hell he's gonna be playing anywhere near that if he's even on the roster next season. And he shouldn't either.

While I appreciate his offensive contributions, his race to win the "most charges drawn" title became one of the most ridiculous and distracting storylines of the season. The sight of Love on his ass every time a 6'3'' guard drove at him started getting really old toward the end of the season.

Sure he often pulled it off and he did sacrifice his body, but the fact that you have to resort to a gimmick like that instead of playing straight defense tells us all we need to know about where he is as an NBA player at this point.

Drawing charges is not a gimmick lmao. Its a valid defensive technique and a way for a player to provide rim protection when they are unable to jump anymore. File this under bad Heat Check takes

When you do it every time instead of contesting a drive, whether it makes sense or not, it stops being a "defensive technique". More often than not, it's just a gift to the other team. Basket and one.

I'm sure Love didn't plan on doing it that often, but he fell in love with it.
