Greetings. I'm having a bit of a dilemma. The story goes like this - I've been a Cavs fan for a decade now. Been watching the NBA for about two decades. When I was younger, I didn't really have a favorite team. I'm from Puerto Rico, don't have a local team.
When yours truly graduated from high school, I started following the NBA more. That was in 2011. Was starting to look for a team to follow. The Cavs were in the middle of a rebuild, having drafted Kyrie Irving. I thought to myself, the Cavs are an interesting team because they're young & could be the next OKC Thunder.
The dilemma steams from the fact that I might move to California soon. I'll finally have local teams. That said, the Cavs have such a nice team that it's making me overthink. I would in theory have many Cali teams to choose from.
What would you do in this situation? Part of me thinks it would be weird rooting for the Cavs while living in Cali. I'm considering staying put but want to know what you guys think.
If you're wondering, I would indeed consider the Sacramento Kings. As a matter of fact, they're the front runners, being the closest team to where I might re-locate. Don't worry, the Warriors are not on the radar. As for Baseball, I like the A's.
Location is Salinas, California.
It's not really location now is it? I'm Hungarian, was living in China when I started following the NBA and the Cavs as a teenager, now back in Hungary.
But if your passionate about a team or a player or a city, doesn't matter where you are. Especially in this age, when everything is televized and on social media. Communities are online like here on RCF. Locations don't really matter anymore, unless you absolutely want the thrill of the arena or sports bars etc.
Do what makes you feel good and gives you sparks, there is no logic in this.
