Anyone else play JRPGs?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just finishing up grinding out Eiyuden Chronicles:Rising. Get my feet wet with the lore of the new IP. Shaping up to be a fun world.

How was it overall? I loved Suikoden so I am hoping they did a good job with the game!

Rising is just the prequel town building platformer mini rpg that they pushed out because of hitting the Kickstarter goals so quickly. Took about 25 hrs to finish it all. A lot of repetitive fetch quests, but it's sorta the nature of the game itself. The lore it provides starts to build the world and overall bad villain etc.

It was on Game Pass Day 1 so was worth the bit of time. I'm excited for actual game coming next year for sure tho.

Actually doing a run through of Dragon Quest 11 in between messing around with Shredders Revenge. Might give Omori a try soon.

I got back out the Suikoden series since my brother did so I got that running on one system, then Persona 4 on another lol then I got more games running on my ps4 and switch lol You can tell outside of work and baseball I have no life since its books, anime or games lol

May have mentioned it before years ago, can't remember, but If you or any one else is looking for a decent and deep jrpg series checkout the "Legend of Heroes: Trails of Saga" if you haven't already. You can start with the Cold Steel games if the older 8-16 bit top down visuals aren't appealing.

There are 10 or 11 games in the series with 2 of the older ones (Crossbell arc) getting localization this year. Two of the most recent ones are on the way in the next 2-3 years, all interconnected in regard to the overarching story even through the separate arcs. Has some mechanics that are similar to Persona and Gem system similar to the FF7 combat materia once into the Cold Steel arc.

I love that series! Own all the games in English so far!

Just finished Trails in the Sky a few weeks ago. Looking to start the sequel once work settles down a bit and I finish my rerun of FE7

I was really surprised at how deep the lore was and the fact that they've been able remain pretty consistent for the most part between all the games. I've noticed if you read the in game books they give out hints to future characters or story elements. The one Vampire story from CS 3 iirc is foreshadowing Rose and there was another that was a recounting Joshua's time doing dirt. Getting all the Black records in 2 was a little much but that secret scene at the end was worth it.

Really looking forward to localization release of Trails into Reverie and Kuro no Kiseki 1 (2 gets it's release this year in Japan)

When you get done with the Trails in the Sky arc and move to the next ones keep in mind the Crossbell and CS arcs take place concurrently, didn't catch that right away on my first CS arc run through. If you're paying attention to in game dates as you're playing you can play through chronologically from 2 different perspectives of the incidents that lead to the major conflict in the later CS games.

IIRC the first CS game runs concurrently with Zero through the last chapter of Azure. Then the last chapter of Azure takes place concurrently through CS 2.

Alright! Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Live A live and Digimon Survive all just came out! Get a buying and get a playing peeps!

Also Digimon Survive looks like Shin Megami got ahold of Digimon... it's supposed to be a survival tactical game and it's been delayed a few times, it better be good!

Well I found a very good condition of Vagrant Story for the Ps1 the other day... lol

I like my collection... Now gotta play them...

Hopefully they have steel cases so you can just leave one unopened lol

I'm pretty sure that is going be Trails from Zero since Azure ( i have a habit of flipping the Crossbell games for some reason) and Reverie are next year iirc ?

The Calvard arc (the devs say this is the halfway point of the story, only took 12 games lol) started after Reverie but I haven't seen western release dates or schedule for the new arc yet. Japan gets the 2nd game in the new arc next month. Kind of hoping they drop the western releases of Reverie and the first 2 games in the Calvard arc in the same year but I'm guessing the new arc will release from 2024 through 2026

Makes sense, pretty sure it takes about 2 years for them to release in the west on average.

I'm curious to see the new engine they developed for use in the Calvard arc over a prolonged play through. Looked like a pretty big jump in fidelity from the trailers I've seen so far which makes me more curious than normal about what they'll be able to do it with it.
