2022 Minor League Week 14 Games Thread (7/4 -7/10/22)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Interesting concept...trading prospects for a comp pick.

One 40+ FV
One 40 FV
One non prospect.

The semi equivalent of trading...

Noel
Battenfield
Bracho

No thanks.

One of the reasons that Atlanta was willing to it was that because of losing so many draft picks because of previous misdoings, it has to supplement a shortage of prospects quickly, and the extra money it is allowed to spend along with the comp pick helps immensely.

What about Battenfield, Bracho, and Tena?

I keep hearing about the muh muh muh 40 man roster crunch. This alleviates at least 2 potential hard choices there. In exchange for basically a pick that could become a Triston McKenzie or Tanner Burns. What's the downside, other than whiffing on the pick?

You either have enough spots that the 40-man crunch isn't a concern, or you have a method to alleviate some of that concern staring at you. There's 5 other teams with Competitive Balance A picks you could deal with.

Bracho has dropped pretty quickly in the rankings... Also Battenfield I don't think they want to move for a comp pick...

you must be confused.. or.. while you were moving the goal posts, again.. you misspelled the names that would be equivalent..

You meant:

Junior Sanquintin instead of Bracho
Carson Tucker instead of Noel
Tommy Mace instead of Battenfield..

Easy mistake.. but if you spend less time moving the goal posts.. you wouldn't make them.. Of course, you realize this would be "an absolute/slam dunk" make the deal happen for a 35th overall pick in the draft..

Thoughts?..

@CATS44

Did ATL lose draft picks??? I did not think they did. Do you have a link for the penalites ATL received??

I know Houston lost draft picks across multiple years for its transgressions, but since ATL was all issues with the International market I for some reason believed all the penalties were dealing with the Int'l market (ie can't sign ANYONE on that side for over $10k for multiple years)..

They lost one, a 3rd round pick in 2018

The Atlanta Braves will be releasing a dozen minor leaguers and losing their third-round draft pick in 2018 as a result of an MLB investigation into their prospect-signing practices.

Not only did Atlanta lose a draft pick and a dozen international prospects, they had the ability to sign future amateur talent limited...but I don't know by how much and for what length of time.
