Browns Training Camp 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Anyone arguing in good faith that the Browns should have hung on to Baker to start while Watson is suspended is completely out of touch with the reality of that situation.

I suspect anyone even hinting at that isn't arguing in good faith though.

Yet it happens. That’s how the sports world works. Not being trading before training camp isn’t being treated subhuman.
Except that's not what happened here. So it's clearly not how the sports world works--otherwise you wouldn't have brought up this inane argument.

He is, but it has to make you wonder if we're into mid August and JC still is unsigned that perhaps he's just not there physically.

With Harris going down though, it wouldnt surprise me if they make a move to bring in another C with NFL game experience, unless they believe one of the backup guards can move over to C...

Pocic was an under the radar depth signing, in 5 years all with the Seahawks, he has played in 57 games, starting 40. He isnt great, but he is rated a very respectable 67.3 by pff. He allowed 2 sacks and only 1 penalty in 600 snaps at center.

In 2020, he played 932 snaps, allowing only 2 sacks and 1 penalty with still a respectable 62.4 grade.

There was a chance Pocic beat out Harris.

Do we know that Tretter is significantly better than Pocic?

I think both of them are capable and neither one is special. There's an argument to be made for the younger, cheaper, healthier option.

I think the younger and cheaper is certainly valid, but other than missing 1 game to COVID, JC Tretter did not miss a snap in the last 5 seasons.

If Pocic beat out Harris, I think that would've said a lot more about Harris's ability, or lack thereof, than anything else.

There’s also the argument to just sign the guy who has started most of our games under Kevin Stefanski who we know is good.

It doesn't make sense, but also not enough pixels have been devoted to how it would've been silly for Baker to sit early last season;.I think that sort of resume gap would have made him more untradeable.

The "very little field time in 31 months" is a problem whether it's Baker or Watson, even if you're starting at different baselines.

Bring back Baker!:chuckle::chuckle:
One of the troubling things about Watson yesterday is that, although his contract can be voided on the spot for an indictment, there are no takesy backsies for bad on-field performance if he never gets his mojo back.

He looked very unable to "compartmentalize" as Stefanski was claiming earlier.

He threw 5 passes and 2 were stone cold dropped :chuckle:
