2022 Season | Series #36 | Guardians @ Jays | Aug. 12-14, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So who are we going to start for the doubleheader tomorrow? Civale and who? Not Pilkington again is it?

Curry, Bettenfield would be better options. And no I don't give a flying flip about service time or 40-man issues.

Battenfield is already up, but he isnt on the 40 man, so he gets sent down on Monday... Which makes Pilkington the other starter for the double header since that's 5 days rest for him...

Speaking for many people that don’t normally post in the Guards threads. Is there any shot they consider benching Straw, or is that only an option next year when GV might be comming to claim a starting spot in the outfield?

I'd say, at least for this season, Straw is likely going to normally be the starter in CF, but you could see the number of starts go down though. Instead of playing everyday, he gets 1-2 days off a week from starting with Benson in CF, then him subbing in later, while Benson goes to RF to replace OGonz/Jones. He will pretty much play in every single game the rest of this season if healthy, but he may start less while being a sub later...

Once Valera is MLB ready, and Straw hasn't really shaped up, I think his role will change but that's next All-Star break area...

Bench as in not start at all? Unlikely unless Benson both blows him away and we don't want to bat the right handed Straw against lefties.

I'm hopeful that Benson plays so well that Straw gets reduced to a platoon role--but he hasn't taken command of the position in that way yet.

Just one game today gentlemen . . .

Gimenez, NoJo, Benson all on the bench today vs RHP

Miller, Freeman, Straw, O. Gonzalez in. I don't get it

Edit: Oh, and let the Alex Call watch begin: batting leadoff today vs Blake Snell (he's only facing FOR, lol)

Career 694 vs 755

Thats one part of the equation, the other is hitting talent and I'd argue most of that little edge is gone by playing a couple of worse hitters
I'm not arguing in favor of anything--just explaining why the team isn't stacking lefties against a RHP.

Would not surprise me if they give the ball to Curry tomorrow. He's been excellent his last few starts and he also has had 5 days rest. Making a roster move to accommodate is a simple thing to do. When Gaddis started, they bypassed Pilkington then as well.

I wouldn't mind seeing Curry, but I haven't given up on Pilkington yet.

I'm pretty positive the ball is going to Pilkington since his last start was on the 10th and the double header is on the 15th is it not? Gaddis pitched on the 12th. Curry did pitch on the 9th, but he isnt on the 40 man and I think they wanna leave that last spot semi-open/someone they can DFA cause of Morris' return soon...

Edit: It could even go to Morris...
