We've crossed the threshold fellas. If we don't win the division, we've "crumbled".

Not winning the division now would be a failure.

Nah. The bigger question is when Jose Ramirez will be traded or whether the Cleveland outfielders will out-homer Vladimir Guerrero Jr. again this year. Last year they edged the AL MVP runner-up by two — 50 combined homers in 1,965 plate appearances to 48 in 604 PAs for Guerrero.

If we go 8-6 and Chicago wins out, I do not agree as to "choking", but I take your point.
 
Choking is a lazy, obnoxious, and disrespectful characterization that sports fans like to talk about that usually has no basis in reality. We've had tons of huge games and repeatedly come up big in pressure situations. Why would they choke now just because we're at the end? It makes no logical sense.

Wouldn't an athlete have already "choked" trying to make it to the pinnacle of their profession if they were prone to such a thing? No it's gonna happen once they've had years of experience and it just happens to be a big game, now they're completely crumbling. Seems totally reasonable

You could have said that every year for the last decade pretty much.

It’s amazing that people will never learn year-to-year, and cry about the same stupid shit every off season, yet find themselves rooting for a team in the thick of a pennant chase year in and year out in September.

Then again, the brain drain in Ohio is real.

It’s getting loose in Chicago this week. Beers are flowing in that clubhouse and it’s a great sight to see



The Ohio brain drain has been a symptom of a broader problem, but I’m largely not allowed to comment on that here anymore.

geez, you can certainly tell these guys love each other. I also think Austin is a great clubhouse guy. Would like to see him stick next year as Naylor's backup eventually. I think Bo would learn a lot from him
