Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Overrated.

If Myles Garrett doesn't get this near strip sack here Garrett Wilson and Corey Davis are wide ass open. This might only show up in the stat sheet as a QB pressure. This is one of the few times all game where NYJ didn't chip or double Myles and you can see why they are forced to do it so much.

This play doesn't looks sexy to most people because it didn't end up in a sack but I guarantee you that there are less than 5 players in the entire world who can duplicate this exact play like Myles did. That's why he is who he is and it's also why people need to stop listening to bitter ass talking heads who need to get you in your feelings in order to maintain their shows and actually watch the games............

Also if this was Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers, that ball is out even sooner before Wilson or Davis hit their breaks and it looks like a wide open pass play and people are bitching about the defensive coverage again. Myles Garrett impacts what happens on every single play as much as any defender not names Aaron Donald. Maybe TJ Watt or Micha Parsons but Myles Garrett is definitely at the top of the list.

With all the shit that transpired this past offseason, I had forgotten about the "drink every time Myles Garrett is allowed to get held" game.

Part of Myles not getting calls reminds me of Shaq not getting calls when he was hack a Shaq'd. He was so formidably strong adding his height that he couldn't flop like Varejao and get a call.

Does Myles not get more holding calls due to his wide rush end around the LT instead of a straight on rush with a swim or rip move? The offensive lineman holding isn't as obvious until Myles is around the lineman in a circular motion compared to the lineman being beat head on by a swim move and holding on at point of contact.

MG only has 1 thing to clean up in my book: sometimes teams will sort of bait him and then take advantage of that with runs or passes where the edge isn’t set.

Can anyone see/find his sack numbers by each half? Trying to see if he wears down or that’s just some subjective nonsense that I made up.

Still an ungodly, terrifying player who then makes everyone else’s job easier by many degrees. I can’t imagine being an OC and watching tape on this guy.

Had the same impression as Nate, that he was a bit of a ghost in the 4th Quarter. I just assumed that it was less about MG wearing down and more about opposing Offenses holding back a few cards for crunch time.

That said, looks very consistent all the way through. Big blip in the 2nd Quarter - interesting - but not sure what to really do with that information.

2nd and 4th quarters are probably also more likely to involve passing due to game circumstances.
Didn't think about it like this. interesting to note the 2 years we sucked ass Myles had 1 and 2 4th quarter sacks. I'm assuming bc we were always down so teams went to clock control mode against us.

It has little to do with your point, but I did notice Myles was on the sideline for much of the last 2 drives the Jets had in the 4th...usually on 1 knee with his helmet off.

He reportedly sat out a couple practices with a sore neck. Maybe that has something to do with it? Hope he can play tomorrow.

He wasn't on the injury report this week, so Garrett is definitely playing.
