2022 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Saw a report that he is going to be released from the hospital tonight and is expected to travel with the team back to Miami.

Unfortunately medical scans will only show severe tissue damage. I guess his brain not bleeding is kinda good news.

I wouldn’t be suprised if we find out in the next week or two that Tua has some neurological issues. I have had some nerves issues etc with cerebral palsy ( very very mild case) and have known athletes that had to quit playing at the HS level because the risk of getting hit the wrong way and how at risk they were with nerves.

Yeah, the crazier thing about the whole situation is they just stuck him back out there in a short week. Even if he cleared concussion protocol last week, he was still stumbling around on the field, bounced his head off the ground, and said it was related to a neurological issue in his back. I just don’t know how you can send a guy back out on the field four days later all things considered.

Even if he’s ok, I just can’t imagine going back out on the field ever again after something like that. Assuming there’s no really significant lasting effects from all this. He can make a bunch of money as a commentator or analyst. If I were his parents, I’d probably make him watch the replay of the injury. That shit was scary. That might’ve been the only time I’ve ever seen a guy get hurt in a game and just didn’t want to watch it anymore.

I get it, but if the appointed medical professionals cleared him and Tua wanted to play then what can they do? Hog tie him on the sidelines because a bunch of Twitter University MDs said to?

I believe it wasn't declined and Michaels just misspoke.

I am not 100% sure on this part, but I also believe illegal contact counts as 5 no matter what happens on the play - incomplete pass, complete pass for more than 5 or a scramble.

I’m late, but this is correct.

It was illegal hands to the face, and that applies regardless of outcome. When it’s against a defense, you usually will see it following incomplete, which is why you see the five yards from LOS.

My guess is Tua is back by the 11/30 game against the Texans.

My hot take is he is back against the Steelers on 10/23.

If I were him, I'd think long and hard about retiring and going into coaching or broadcasting. And after last night's scene, I know my wife and parents would be begging me to do that as well.

The $25M in NFL earnings he's already collected would be more than enough for me to move on to the next phase of my life.

I understand he was cleared by medical professionals, but if what happened to Tua in that Bills game happened in a boxing match or UFC fight, the ref probably would’ve immediately ended the fight. I just don’t know how someone was able to say he was ok to go back on the field after seeing that even if he cleared protocol.

Difference between the spirit of the rule and the letter of the rule. Like the saying "just because it's legal doesn't make it right". Did Tua clear all the protocols? From what we have heard, yes. But from a layman's view the right thing would have been to sit him on a short week and give him 14 days before next potential contact. If Miami was 0-3 before the game or it was a Sunday 1pm compared to Thursday night prime time game, the odds of Tua sitting would have been much greater.

Yikes…this is going to get messy. Dolphins pointing the finger at the unaffiliated neurotrama consultant, even though from my understanding they have doctors on staff that would’ve been required to perform the same testing.

It's just theater to quell the public outcry.

The players know how to beat the protocol. It's an open secret. The coaches, teams and league all know this, and they support it. They get their star moneymakers out there while they get to pretend they're concerned about player safety.

Unless more pressure is applied, nothing will change.

Scapegoat.
