Game Thread | Game #39 | Suns @ Cavs | Jan. 4, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Great game thread fellas, always enjoy the ups and downs. What sports are about. Mobley has gotten awful on the offensive end. Hopefully it’s from some lingering injury or something. Idk. Kid needs to eat more. But awesome clutch shot. I think he’s got the clutch gene. DM… superstar
Love your post!!!

Individual stats.

Starters:
Okoro 7-4-1 in 19 minutes.
Mobley 6-8-1 with 2 steals in 32 minutes. And a game-winning shot. He looked rusty, except for the last shot.
Allen 2-8-0 with a steal and a block in 33 minutes. Why was he off?
LaVert 21-6-2 with 2 steals and a block in 38 minutes. 7-11 fg, 5-7 from 3. Rock star
Mitchell 20-6-9 with 2 steals in 36 minutes. He ran our offense. Only shot 6-20 fg, 3-12 from 3, but he was good enough

Bench 34-14-2 in 33 minutes. Not many assists, but better than Phoenix's bench by 20 points
Love 6-8-1 with a block in 22 minutes 0-6 from 3.
Osman 12-3-1 with a steal in 33 minutes
Neto 14-2-0 with a block!!! in 21 minutes JYD, key to our comeback. 5-7 fg
Stevens 2-1-0 in 6 minutes

I know Caris is so inconsistent but he came up big tonight and in addition to seeming like a great teammate, he’s a bonafide factotum; he can contribute in so many areas…ball handling, defense, can create his own shot, willing and able passer.
Even before tonight’s game, Caris had an identical 3P shooting percentage to Cedi

Given that Caris can also defend better and playmake a little more consistently, he is probably the last wing we should be considering dealing.

Ideally though, we’d keep both Caris and Cedi while adding a third wing who is a better 3P shooter, especially on catch and shoot/spot up threes, to play more of the minutes Stevens and Okoro have played or ti play. For minutes in the games where Cedi and/or Caris are struggling

Damn I missed this

Seems like a fun sloppy defensive battle where no one could make a shot but we won, I like that

Fratello is too busy to coach, he has like 5 different play by play gigs a week. While people hate on him here, others love him elsewhere. I don't mind the Czar, been hearing his voice since a kid in my favorite NBA Live games when they used to be good.

an ending worthy of the days when you could still catch the Cavs on WUAB 43.
Good on Evan with that CLUTCH last midranger.
Donovan went up but the team got it together.
Damn, they gotta play better offense in 1st half.

It's been said every other game. RCF game thread posters live and die with what comes lately.

He simply needs better coaching from an offensive perspective. Why in the world do we start a 7 footer beyond the 3 point line and have him dribble into a mess is beyond me, and it keeps happening.

He needs to develop an effective Garnett like jumper though, then everything else will come easily.

Understood and agree- good point. I’m losing faith in JBB quickly.

Why don’t we see Mobley taking that shot more often? It was definitely in his bag during his rookie year and I feel like he’s shifted away from being a mid range jumper guy. The 3 isn’t there yet and he’s not strong posting up unless he’s already deep.

It would also be crazy to trade Okoro. I'm not saying he should get a lot of minutes, but he has talent and is still developing. He wouldn't bring much in a trade.
Absolutely. Not a direct comparison & I'm just pulling a name out of the air, but compare Jalen Brown's first three seasons with his next three. These guys come into the league very young, with very little experience & a lot of growth available. It's mostly about how hard they are willing to work, but coaching, system, and teammates also matter.

Games like tonight happen.

Right now the Bucks have only 77 points with 6 minutes to go.

What’s even better, their opponent, the shithead Raptors have only 65

If Raptors continue to bottom out, you could see them as big sellers this trade deadline, though don’t expect them to deal with the Cavs or another talented young East team.

If they move Siakam or OG, they’ll get far more in young players and picks than we have to offer
