Caris LeVert: Drunken Kung Fu

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Is LeVert back in 2023-24?

  • Cavs can't afford the $$$ to keep him and nothing is going to change that

  • After bricking shot after shot in the playoffs, Koby washes his hand and lets LeVert walk

  • Only if he signs for something close to the MLE

  • If Caris plays well in the playoffs, the Cavs will offer big $$$ to keep him

  • KobyAltman! No one else on the team fills his role, so stop sitting on your hands!

If healthy, Dean Wade should start and I really hope everyone in the Cavs organization sees it that way. All of Garland, Mitchell, Mobley, and Allen need more space on the floor to operate and Wade is the only SF candidate who is likely to provide it.

Only issue with Wade startung is who backs up PF? Lamar? If youa re ok with Lamar at PF, and I rather see him there than Love these days, then yes, Wade should start. But with Mobley playing backup center, and Wade backing up the 4 for some minutes, then Lamar gets like 15-20 minutes a game. Another option is start Osman, but he can come off the bench and play 25-30 mins at sf, and move Wade to backup pf for 60% of his minutes.

With Love and Lopez basically unplayable, we are very thin on the front line.

I am starting to think another big wouldning hurt, if Collins can be had now for scraps, and I dont think he can but who knows, Collins might be a homerun giving home 25 mins backup up PF and Center. Maybe even see if an occasional 3 7 foot linuep works with him. I think Mobley would have to defend the 3 though, and not sure i like moving him away from the basket.

But i doubt we have the juice to get Collins even with the lower ask. Maybe if we can get Roby along with McDermott in a trade?

Another player with Wade’s skill set (can play the 3/4 or 4/5 and stretch the floor) would be ideal. With so many non-shooters on the roster, we can’t add another.

How about Bertans if we get THJ in a trade as a throw in?

I'm pretty skeptical that Lamar Stevens is an NBA player so that's going to be a big no from me. I want the Cavs to trade for Mo Bamba, but I'd settle for Plumlee or Holmes.

I am not sure the deadline gets us our sniper and backup shooting big. We might need to use the MLE in the offseason to get one of them.

I think Lamar is a NBA player for sure, just a back of the bench, league min or near league min type guy who is out of the rotation unless injuries. Every team has 2 or 3 of them.

Yeah, I'm suggesting that there are a bunch of league minimum guys who would be better options than Stevens. Pretty sure a guy like Chriss, who's out of the NBA, would be a better option.

He lacks athleticism, basketball skills, basketball IQ, and quite frankly, drive or toughness. There's been no growth or improvement since last year. There's been a regression in terms of hustle. Increasingly, I'm watching a player who's disappointed with his role on the offense and he seems disinclined to accept that he's the 5th option in any unit he's in for a reason.

Ok, so you have no solution for providing any depth in the post in your "start Wade at the 3!" idea other than finding one in a trade? So then we keep him on the bench until then, right?

No. We're a playoff team. A playoff team starts it's best 5 players and worries about the bench afterwards.

Iguodala won the Finals MVP playing off the bench. And all GS did was win the championship

Thinking you start the 5 best players, playoff or not, is very myopic.

Rubio's better than Okoro AND Wade, but I don't want him to start. LeVert, in a vacuum, is also better than Wade and I'm not starting him either.

I think it depends on what type of Vacuum. A Shark or Dyson sure, but no way LeVert is better in a Hoover or Red Devil.

Wade provides the spacing the other starters need. This isn't as complicated as people are making it.
