So, Vegeta just died trying to blow up Majin Buu and Goku just agreed to teach fusion to Goten and Trunks.

Some tropes I'm expecting before the DBZ series ends:
  • Goku agrees to fight Vegeta but if he wins, they fusion to defeat the big bad.
  • This isn't Majin Buu's final form.
  • The earth gets destroyed, but Dende survives. He has guilt about loving while the planet he was the Guardian of is destroyed. The plot then focuses around using the dragon balls to bring back earth

And, when I'm done with dbz, should I...
  1. Watch the movies
  2. Watch GT
  3. Watch Super
Right now I'd plan to go straight to Super and skip all the movies and GT, but I can be swayed.

No spoilers but not bad guesses

The movies can be fun, but they are basically all non-canon/filler other than the Japan exclusives. GT is bad, skip away.

Trunks just got the dragon radar and I imagine the kids are about to learn fusion while Gohan is still training with the Z Sword in the kai world.

I just wanted to say that I think the best part of DBZ is the relationship between Piccolo and Gohan.

I've also enjoyed watching the Buu saga so far. I've actually wanted to watch the next episode rather than just slogging through it like I felt for most of DBZ.

I also feel this arc is a mix between "I don't want to make this shit anymore. How absurd can we make it?" And "Hey, I'm actually having fun with this absurd, silly shit. I haven't felt like this since the Freiza saga."

Piccolo is Gohan's real dad and you cant convince me otherwise

Evil Buu just ate Majin Buu.

The Mr. Satan/Majin Buu stuff was great.

Not so sure about the kais/z-sword stuff.

I like the EvilBuu:MajinBuu Piccolo:Kami comparison.

Not feeling Evil Buu so far. Gives me Cell vibes.

Things go up and down for a while. You are heading to what might be the clowniest fight in the entire series. You will know it when you get there

Gotenks?

Because this fight sucks. He just went super saiyan and there hasn't been a single moment where I thought he'd win.

Trunks's hubris turned this into a miserable slog to get through.

Dragon Ball GT is considered to be of low quality, although some of the animation is still impressive. It was produced without input from Toriyama, who was effectively retired at that point. However, Toriyama later returned around 2008 to supervise the special, Son Goku and his friends return and then a few years later co-write the movies Battle of the Gods and Resurrection of F.

He said he came back after the live action movie took a shit on his creation.

Toei then created Dragon Ball Super a few years later, with Toriyama providing the general story concepts and plot outlines. The first two arcs of the anime were reanimated versions of Battle of Gods and Resurrection F and were regarded as poorly paced and animated. However, after about 30 episodes, the series picks up with the Zamatsu arc, and the animation improves. The Tournament of Power arc is considered well regarded.

Around the time the second arc of the Super anime was airing, Toriyama and his protege Toryotarou created the Dragon Ball Super manga, which is still ongoing. Toriyama provides the general scripting and direction, while Toyotarou does the illustration and dialogue. The manga differs slightly from the anime and is generally considered to be better, especially the conclusion to the Zamatsu arc. The anime ends with the Tournament of Power, while the manga is still ongoing, three arcs past that point. The newest two movies, Broly and Super Hero, are considered to be very good and take place after the end of the Super anime, but before where the manga currently is.

Overall, Dragon Ball Super has good ideas but mixed execution, and can feel like a cash grab with unearned transformations for merchandise. However, as a hardcore fan, it may still be enjoyable. The recommendation is to watch the movies, skip the first two arcs of the anime (starting with Champa), and read the manga concurrently.

Damn, why did I not see this thread?

I'm really into mecha. Gundam, Votoms, Big O, and anything by Tomino are my favorites. I own all the 0079/Tomino timeline Gundam anime and everything with Char Aznable in it. Another space opera I've gotten into more recently is the remade Star Blazers series. It's good and the animation is top notch.

I used to be a shonen fan when I was younger with the Dragon Ball franchise, Naruto, Kenshin, Pokemon, Digimon, Shaman King, and Bleach here and there. Right now, the only shonen I still enjoy/follow are Kenshin, Jujutsu Kaisen, Baki, and Attack on Titan. I tried Demon Slayer but just couldn't get into it. It's a shame too because it had all the right setting/world building markers.

I've seen Monster by Naoki Urasawa over 10 times. One of the best dramas I've ever experienced and is right there with Gundam and Jujutsu Kaisen as my current top tier anime follows/watches.

Ps. I don't like how By the Grace of the Gods season 2 is going... It's just to far from the light novel in my mind. I like the story of the LN but the anime just doesn't transition in my mind. I personally wouldn't recommend it, unless you really liked the first season...

I haven't been watching ARS since I want it to finish first before I watch it (Aka I am going to binge watch it). The few episodes I saw though said potential galore...

I cannot explain why I still like the Ice Guy and his Cool Female Colleague, but I watch that one first when the new episodes come out haha. It's not honestly that great on paper, it's just one of those I don't know why I like it, but I do so I'll keep watching it haha

I've been watching a bunch this season, so in two monthish I'll give reviews on them all lol They are on episode 6/7 area going on 7/8 this week lol

Gotenks just split back apart into Goten and Trunks.

Gohan just donned Goku's outfit before his fight with Majin Buu.

Goku just talked about how his place is otherworld.

I'm guessing Gohan loses, but in a sneaky way--like he thought he had Buu beat but then Buu kills him or something--then Goku gets brought to Earth to fight Buu.

We also haven't seen or heard of Vegeta since he died. Figure he might be due to play a role Still.

I really hated that entire Buu/Gotenks fight. I hope they can pull me back in soon.

And I just hit grand old kai giving up his life for Goku.

Looks like we might get that Goku/Vegeta fusion to deal with Majin Buu.

Gohan fight still felt like a slog, but clearly not as bad as Gotenks. Hopefully this gets spicier

Edit: Ahh, the earrings.

And this is the most powerful character in all of DBZ that doesnt have bs deus ex machina powers
