Berry won’t get burned. He’s not going to over-pay to improve any area of the roster. It’s clear he looks for value and I expect nothing less when adding depth and at the very least quality players over the next couple weeks leading up to the draft and beyond.

I think defensive is the opposite of the word you want to use to describe my post. Overly aggressive? Antagonistic? Asshole? Short temper? Sure--but I'm not defending anything. I'm attacking your woe-is-me garbage-tier shitpost.

I'd encourage you to read upthread. Your questions have already been answered.

I’m sorry you think the truth is shit posting. He put out the worst DTs in the league last year. He hasn’t earned any trust.

Minus the only fully guaranteed 5 year contract in NFL history?

The case could be made that even beyond Watson that Berry's already made multiple "overpay" signings in his tenure.

Hooper in particular was a clear overpay. Conklin and Johnson were certainly solid upper market signings when they were made as well.

You said "Berry wants to go into the season with the worst DTs in the league again"

That isn't truth. If you think our GM wants a position group to be the worst in the league, you're even more braindead than what everyone on RCF knows you to be.

But hey, let's play your game. Berry wants to have the worst DT's in the league--right?

SO THEN WHY DID HE GO AFTER JAVON HARGRAVE AND DRE'MONT JONES?

Oh, if you stopped for even two seconds and engaged your brain your post falls apart? Who would've thought! I can't imagine a post by @FrontPageNews being so easily disproven!

I agree. He's made it clear that he will overpay to deliver the coaches what they need to run their scheme.

Hooper and Conklin to Stefanski to run his offense in year one.

JJ3 and Troy Hill (along with drafting Newsome and Wu) to Woods in year two, because Woods clearly stated he needed talent in the secondary to execute his defensive philosophy.

I'm not surprised at all that we're in on DT's that are at the top of the market. I don't think we'll leave free agency without at least one good one.

(I don't think Watson is an overpay.... but then again I don't think Mahomes is an overpay either. I think they're smart, forward-thinking moves)

Yeah I mean it’s the NFL you still have to pay people large contracts my guy. We already have a ton of them.

I can picture Browns fans now killing AB if he gave Dre’Mont that amount and he didn’t live up to it with a Pro Bowl next year. “We have Deshaun and he’s wasting money on one player?! We could’ve signed two guys with that!”

It’s the structur/short length, not the first year cash payout.

The problem is paying a guy a priority/premier signing bonus over only 3 years instead of the 4 or 5 years the Browns likely offered.

It creates a first year cap hit for Jones that is probably in the 7.5-10M range, far higher than where it needs to be for us with a decent sized shopping list of needs and a small number of draft picks

Yeah so your take that Berry won't pay overpay is pretty silly then, right?

My guy.
