Garland is better for this team than Mitchell. Makes players better, gives about the same if not more effort on defense, a better 3 pt shooter.

Smart doesn't have a quarter of the physical gifts Mitchell has and he won DPOTY last season. DG just needs to get stronger.

I agree Mitchell has a lot more physical gifts then Smart but if u cant tell the deference btw Smart and Mitchell on defense then I cant help ya. Smart sacrifices his body and offensive game to play defense. Should Mitchell do this also?? Hell no we need to score 30 points efficiently. But Mitchell's effort on defense has been lacking all thru his career.

I dont know about that. I love DG but Mitchell might make all NBA team this year. Mitchell might be a top 10 player.

The 5 guard spots left after Doncic are gonna be between Morant, Mitchell, Lillard, Brunson, Alexander, Fox, Young and maybe Curry. 2 weeks ago I would say Morant gets the 1st team slot but now I dont know. My best guess:

1st team
G Doncic
G Mitchell
F Tatum
F Giannis
C Jokic

2nd Team
G Morant
G Lillard
F Brown
F Randle
C Embid

3rd Team
G Brunson
G Fox or Alexander
F Lebron/Durant??
F Siakam
C Sabonis

I guess I’m just not a fan of Mitchell game. He’s fun to watch try to go off, but I personally wish we never made the trade.
 
If Mobley's ceiling is merely "top 20 in the league," we're screwed. However, I suspect he will be a future MVP at some point. He's way, way better in Year 2 than Tatum was, as well as Giannis. Not even close. And probably on par with where Embid was. People seem to forget that he IMMEDIATELY lifted this team from 25 win status to 45, as a skinny rookie big. Yeah, there were other factors (Garland's big 3rd year jump, adding Rubio). But we immediately went from being a bottom 5 defense to a top 5 defense the minute he hit the floor. And this translated to WINS.

Jeez, I really wonder some times about our "fans."
 
 
And Tatum, who's close his his peak NOW, is not a top 5 player. Joker, Giannis, Doncic, Embid, and Durant are all better. And some other players, when healthy, (e.g., Lebron, AD) are arguably better.

I cant tell if youre serious, or not, but thinking having a "top 20 in the league" player makes the Cavaliers screwed is a bit hyperbolic. Don is a top 20 player, as well. DG and JA are each top 10(ish) at their respective positions. Can you think of a team with 2 top 20 players and 2 more guys that are top 10 in the league at their positions thats "screwed"?

I would argue against JA being top10 at his position.

Or maybe framed differently, the gap between the top 5-6 bigs and the next tier that Allen is in is much bigger than the gap between the top5 guard and 6-10 guards or the gap between the top 5 wings and the 6-10 wings.

And that's not a knock on JA, who I like and value a good deal

I think this is Mitchell's peak to be honest, which is not a bad thing.

I think Mobley will average between 20 and 25 a game as soon as next year.

I agree that Mobley will average between 20 and 25 next year.

Why do you think Mitchell has peaked at 26? I expect him to get more consistent over the next five years.

Going to disagree with you a bit here. I think Allen is firmly in the 2nd tier of center but the first tier is the MVP level guys (Embiid, Joker). I dont think there is a tier level gap between Allen and guys like KAT or Bam. I do agree that there is a bit of a chasm before the next group that includes Rob Williams, Nic Claxton, JV, and Nurk.

I love JA

Put KAT or Bam on this roster in a 1 for 1 swap for Allen and I believe we would see that there is indeed a gap between those two and JA.

I think its more like the cavs are going to have real issues competing for championships without a top 5-10 player. Honestly the cavs could have 3 top 25 guys (DM, DG, and Mobley) along with another top 50 player in allen and while I think they could very well finish as a top 5 team record wise in the regular season over and over, they are going to struggle in the playoffs without a star player.

The Cavs dont need mobley to become a top 5-7 player, however they need one of their players to get there.
