Rumor: Greg Newsome intends to leave the Browns. The cornerback is said to be leaning towards retirement in order to pursue his one true passion--softball.
Always knew he was a slimeball
He could've just got wind of Drew being in town and 100% turned it into a non-story.I don't consider that slimy at all? He owned up to his mistake and even publicly apologized when he clearly didn't have to.
Let that be a lesson to him to not 100% trust any source, even if they've given him good info in the past.
My Little League coach for like 3 or 4 years was a guy named Stainbrook. He was a great coach. He taught a bunch of kids all the nuances of baseball, had us all playing and thinking the game like much older players while having a blast doing so. he was a saint of a man.I'm not hating on Browns by Brad too much. Clearly a source he trusted, someone who has given him a lot of good information in the past, told him something that just wasn't true.
It happens. He owned up to it.

Kids…This. Screw Stainbrook, Schefter, Cabot, even what Newsome himself has to say. I'm withholding any comment until the "Burner" weighs in.
Either way, I don't think any of his credible sources would play him or else there would've been shenanigans long before. He intends to stick with his story though and says he got played. Must've been a newly added contact. PIPs burner got em!Possibly. And if he did that, then shame on him for not vetting it thoroughly enough.
My best guess is that whoever his source is in the building probably told him "Drew is Newsome's new agent and he's coming in town tomorrow. We expect him to ask for a trade" before the meeting actually took place.
And then the meeting happened and he assumed (incorrectly) his info was good and ran with it. I don't think he had nefarious intentions.
And he instantly owned up to it and apologized, which most reporters don't even do.
