I watched religiously as a kid during the attitude era.. got back into it as an adult for the entertainment purposes. I enjoy the in ring work, think some of the stories are great and compelling. Some are cheesy and stupid. But i think there's more to like with the modern product than the attitude era, in hindsight... better in ring work, less cringe, less serious brain damage. Modern product can be great at times.
Yes the attitude era is what we were raised on. I tried to turn on today's wrestling and it's just too clean and bright. I saw a promotional poster for the royal rumble one time and I kid you not everyone on the poster was smiling. Give me the hardcore entertaining badasses of my day. I do understand why an adult would like for the reasons you stated though. The stars don't really seem to have any charisma either. Just big and strong. No mic work no personality

There is no SCSA Ric Flair or Rocky on the mics nowadays. Far from it. They are three of the best all time. It's been more scripted in modern days as opposed to back in the day. So we don't get a lot of charisma and charm from the performers on TV through their promos.

This video is hilarious.

It documents Mr. Perfect's perfect ribbing game.

Hennig would often target wrestlers who had passed out from drink, or drugs, and shave off one eyebrow thus forcing the Sophie's Choice the next day of either walking around with one eyebrow or the person shaving off the other to avoid the one eyebrow look.

In this case, Mr. Perfect chose the perfect time to shave off one of 1-2-3 Kid's eyebrows, only days before the WWF's promo photoshoot day.

Thus, Sean Waltman's promo photos were all eyebrowless for a year. What's worse is that his action figure photo was also eyebrowless.

30th Anniversary of RAW included appearances by many Legends.

But, as usual, Money Inc. comes out on top. @RchfldCavRaised

Also, Jimmy Hart is perhaps a vampire.

Dude is 79 and looks like its 1988 still.

Insane.

Jimmy Hart could make for a pretty decent doc too. Was a bit of a rock-n-roll star with The Gentrys and came up during the Memphis glory days.. He lives pretty clean by most/all accounts, but the stories he must have...

EDIT - I am sure you guys know this already but - I really like the "Why should I Cry" song though

And lead vox on this:
He wrote many of the WWF's wrestler's themes in the Golden Era, including Million Dollar Man's "Money, Money, Money," Shawn Michaels' "Sexy Boy," and the all-time greatest theme "I'm the Mountie," followed by "We're not the Mounties," for Jacques Rougeau's run as Intercontinental Champion The Mountie and the three-time Tag-Team Champion Quebecers.

RIP, The Genius. Poet Laureate of the WWF.

Lanny Poffo is was a great worker in his own right. Incredibly agile and doing spots years ahead of their time. Never quite got out from under his older brother's spotlight, but he did carve out a nice memorable niche for himself. And he did a wonderful job of protecting Randy's legacy; his speech at Macho Man's HoF induction being an example.

His greatest moment was beating Hulk Hogan on national television at the height of Hulkamania. He chewed the scenery, and perhaps laid the effeminacy on a bit thick, but it was a memorable match. Dude could move like fucking Spiderman!

You know who doesn't get enough love?

Yokozuna.

I know he is well regarded, but he was really good for his size and well booked.

His talk-show appearances were great. Yoko, Fuji and Cornette were a great team.

The Yoko/Undertaker feuds were legendary.

Just for you, @The Human Q-Tip, the great Jim Cornette squares off against the Macho Man... keep your eyes on him.

Went to my local Manhattan Bagel and struck up a conversation with a guy - Bill Apter, wrestling journalist from the 1970s who’s been in the wrestling media business ever since. Talked about Johnny Powers and the Ali - Wepner fight (which he attended). Connected Andy Kauffman with Jerry Lawler to set up that event which got both on Letterman and helped turn wrestling mainstream. Hilarious dude but what else would you expect from a guy born in the Bronx? Got his business card showing a headline from an old magazine: “Is Wrestling Fixed” with subtitle “didn’t know it was broken.”

I love watching wrestler shoots. Shawn Michaels one man the politics. How can the belt holder not put a guy over if the boss tells you. Not just applying that to Shawn

A story as old as time, unfortunately.

The phrase "That doesn't work for me, Brother!" comes to mind more than once.
